C&O allegany route

Unread postby Railfan49 » Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:18 pm

I downloaded the route with all assets and content. I don't see any track, or texture on the route. What am I missing?

Hi mate...

It might be obvious, but have you downloaded and installed the custom ScaleRail dependency? Even if you have Scalerail installed, you need to install the custom one for this route. It is easy to miss. I only did an install of this route last night, and all was good...

!*cheers*!

Y'all need to have 3D Trains scale rail and scale roads installed: http://www.3dtrains.com/ Best bet is to get the payware hi res versions. It only costs a few bucks. Also, what is the in game detail level set at? It needs to be at 10! Or you miss a lot of graphical detail.

Downloaded scalerail and I still have no tracks and alot of other content. I noticed it downloaded into railworks folder. Does the files have to be moved to another folder?

Is your detail level set to 10?
If God had intended for man to fly, He wouldn't have given us the railroads.

I guess you don't know or else you would not tell me to look in a manual. Anyway, I found where to set the level and the route still shows no rails.

Do you have a ATI video card?
"I found it See if this your issue."Buzz: Do you by chance have an ATI card? I seem to recall that with RailWorks, sometimes for some routes and/or some models, parts of it would seem "invisible" or "missing", and verifying and clearing cache never fixed it for them. But, that going into the ATI control panel, then turn-off Adaptive Anti-Aliasing (AAA), would fix the problem."

This worked for me a couple of computers ago.

No, I know. I've read the manual. My point is that there's lots of folks willing to help on this forum (witness the post right above) and I've certainly benefited from that help many times, but it's also important to do the work you can yourself. I believe it's best to reserve requests for help here for the MANY things that aren't covered in the basic manuals.

The 3DTrains Folder should be in the Assets Folder (which is in the Railworks Folder) ...NOT the Railworks Folder. It appears that Scale Rails et all was not installed properly.

I checked to make sure that scalerails was in the correct folder and it is. I don't have an ATI card so that should not be the problem. The funny thing is that I have other routes that use scalerail and Rurallandscapes and there are no problems with them. Whats even more interesting is when I go into route editor I can lay scalerail tracks and those I layed appear. The ones that came with the route does not. I quess I will just have to skip this route. Thanks everyone that helped

If I can say anything PLEASE persevere with this route. Even with everything that has been released, it is still my favourite. The teraforming etc around Ronceverte is just incredible. Tori said way back when, that it took more than a dozen passes to paint the ground, and when you see it, you can see why. To me, it is the most realistically represented of any route. Just beautiful...

Did you install the custom scale rail? Even if you have the payware version, you need to install the one that is specially tweaked for this route. If you have no assets showing, did you run the .exe file to install them - they are separate from the route?

Failing that, try posting on the board at the COA route website. Tori is still active (although not as much as in the past) and is working on a new release of the route. She has just helped me with an issue I had regarding an errant missing track piece.

I tried everything. I downloaded all the scale rail versions(ATSF, SP and the standard one). The route was an RWP file so I let the Package manager handle that one. The assets was an .exe file. Because I have windows 7 I ran it as "Administrator". I have TS 2013 I don't believe that makes a difference because someone else said they have TS 13 and they had no problems. Thanks for your response.
