Grade Crossing Problem W/ Fort Kent to Eagle Lake

Unread postby GuilfordRailSD45 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 7:27 pm

Hello all,

I have a quick question regarding Rich Garber's Fort Kent and Eagle Lake Route. I just purchased and installed the route, and I must say, it is quite a fabulous route, as I expected.

However, at the grade crossings, there is no sound of crossing-bells, and the crossing lights blink extremely fast. How might I go about fixing these two issues? Is there an upgrade that I am missing?

Please forgive me if I've overlooked an existing solution; I thought that I searched quite thoroughly.

Thanks for any help!

Stephen

Fort Kent uses the old static crossings and sound markers so they're not interactive with the trains, and they just constantly flash and ring. I haven't played it in months but it's possible that the sound markers are referencing files that have been changed by the reshuffle of files by RSC. The best solution... wait until the next edition of RCAP which will include some fully functional crossing, and have a go at replacing them. If you're not up for it, I'll do it and release it as a patch (I'm pretty sure it's legal). It'll only take me a couple of hours.

Stephen, what are your in game detail settings at? Rich likes to keep all his creations set at 10. Check those game detail settings. Rich is a nice guy, send him an e mail. http://allaboardrails.com/ He'll work with you!

NDORFN, if you do not mind, I will take you up on the offer to replace those crossings, if allowed. This RCAP you speak of sounds quite promising. Thank you very much! I would try it on my on, but I am not all that good at doing that type of thing.

Chris, I have my in-game settings up at either "very high" or "highest", so I do not think that that is the issue. Upon second look, the crossing signals do appear to be the old crossings (perhaps from 2010 or around that time), so perhaps they are just outdated. Should I have an more problems, I will certainly email Rich; he certainly seems like a nice guy. I've always loved his routes, especially Canton, back in my MSTS days.

Thanks for the replies!

Tell you what, if you ask Rich Garber for permission I'll do it.

Sounds good, I will do that. Sorry for a delayed reply; I've been tied up with college stuff lately and have not been able to make it back on here for awhile.
