RSC Problem reported

Unread postby OldProf » Tue Dec 18, 2012 3:28 pm

Before RSC does anything else, they should have the integrity to drop everything else they're working on and address the major problem they introduced in a Dec. 3 "update" (at least, that's the date I've seen it attributed to). At present, all route and scenario editing is dangerous activity, as is subscribing to or running a Steam Workshop scenario. Some folks have reported that recent DLC releases, such as the new version of the Class 66, may also be infected and contagious. For additional information and gossip, see this URL: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3030241 .

You may be right and we have seen those reports, but your use of words like "integrity", "infected" and "contagious" is misleading. It gives the impression that RSC has spread a virus for nefarious purposes, or that it is purposely avoiding the issue. If I was a RSC employee, I would not like to have my integrity questioned by some uninformed outsider.

However emotional you may be about this game, I think such sensationalism belongs in The National Enquirer, not here.

Nope. Just getting wary of the "RSC can do no wrong" attitude. We paid money to RSC for a product/products and a service. Money we earned. It didn't just grow on a tree in our back yard. Like every other entity I give my hard earned money to, I expect to get a good deal. Some of you seem to have forgotten that we are the customer.

Sorry, but that isn't the argument. The first reply was how the OP presented his issues, and none of the reply, presumably unlike your own, contained any ad hominem comments.
Cheers!

Actually we are reminded everyday over the 7 different forums that I go to. Someone is constantly reminding us. You can't get away from it.

I certainly don't believe that RSC can do no wrong. Like all software companies, they sometimes win and sometimes fail.

I haven't had any problems with the update for the most part. I've had a couple in-game freezes that required the task manager to close the sim. I had a game save on the Cajon Pass BNSF snoot nose scenario that had it freeze every time about 10 seconds into it as I passed another train. Had to start the scenario from scratch. After running awhile, it ended when an A.I. passenger train apparently had a collision with something, somewhere on the map. Unreal! **!!bang!!**
