Highwaymen Activity - SD75 Brake Causing Derailment

Unread postby Janine » Thu Nov 15, 2012 5:53 am

Greetings and meow to everyone! :)

It's your Swiss problem gurl number one Janine with another problem, this time it's the SD75 activity "Highwaymen" from Cajon Pass. Every time I start the descent to San Bernardino, the first car behind the locos derails not too long after I first brake down slightly. Does this happen to you as well? It doesn't happen in any other consists, only in the SD75 consists. It also happened sometimes in another SD75 Cajon activity in direction of Barstow, butt after saving several times in between, I managed to arrive there without derailing. Funny enuff, it never happened in free roam on the "Sherminator" Hill scenario. :)

Can sumone help a helpless one again here? Would be too happy if you could. :)

Using dynamic or train (independent) brakes? Dynamics (for me anyways) derail every time. I seem to have best luck with zero throttle and just the train brakes dragging me to a stop. any engine braking at all and cars go flying. !*don-know!*

I use the air pressure brakes, not the dynamic ones. The top of the three possible choices to brake. What suggestions do you have to keep the cars on the track? :p This shouldn't happen in real, so why does it happen in the simulation? Is RSC aware of that issue?

this is caused by the rubberband default couplers, replace them with the britkits freeware replacement and it should solve your issue because it did for me.

I second that. I did this a while back. Now I understand why people were having problems and I wasn't.

!DUH! Forgot I also use the Britkits couplers, Jan. Even still, at times, unless I keep a little engine throttle when I brake a long double stack, I get that dread "tornado effect" cars flying into the sky. Or I tilt into an AI train coming at me on an adjoining track, and BAM! I have just got accustomed to having the car brakes drag me to a stop. !!*ok*!!

http://dickyjim.com/ About halfway down the page. To the best of my knowledge it is a universal thing so it applies to all rolling stock. Since it has the same file name I don't think it goes away even on a verification. The only time that would happen is if you were to do a fresh install. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Verification will always restore all the RW files to default, including these couplers. Sounds, lighting, engine enhancements. That's why I use that cool utility from Doc Lisboa (aka Mechanic here) two clicks and all my mods are reinstalled.

How would it know to do that when the folder says 'typre E' just like the original? Does it actually verify every file?

Personally, I think verify is broken. Some times when it hits 20% or 30% the progress bar will zoom to 90% and then done. Sometimes, I can watch the progress bar and each single percent goes by. Jan and I have had this same discussion, I think she sees the same thing happen. Verify is supposed to check every single file name, like you said. So if the file name is the same, then all should be OK. But after a verify, all my sounds, lights, engine enhancements, it's all gone, even tho those folders have the original name. Mod files MUST go into the same file folder as the original, or the game won't know how to find them, right?

I gave up a year or so ago trying to figure it out. I just use the two click utility and I'm done.
