RD..Resume and AEM7

Unread postby miata54 » Thu Oct 11, 2012 8:16 am

I'd really appreciate hearing from simmers who have a Raildriver and the NEC. Since the major upgrade to RW2013, I can not program my RD to get the Throttle or Brake levers to work. Reverser works. I just applied the latest update to RD in the form of Macroworks 3.1 v 1.1.1.43 from PI Engineering, but still have no action on those two levers. All other engines in RW2013 on the RD work as expected-all levers are functional.

I'm also confused on the "Resume" function in the RW2013 Main Menu. Out of curiosity, I selected it this morning on my initial startup of RW2013 and it took me to a night run of the AEM7 somewhere on the NEC. Interestingly enough, on this run, all 3 RD levers (Throttle, Brake and Reverser) functioned properly, yet I can't get the Throttle and Brake levers to work on selecting a scenario from the NEC menu.

Do all three of your RD levers work on your AEM7?

Thanks

Since the update to TS2013 the AEM7 uses a different lua script in its engine simulation, with a different interaction between the control variables like brake handle or throttle lever positions and the actual simulation engine.

The engine simulation only gets initialized properly on first run of scenario and the RailDriver software and macros probably control different or "obsolete" control variables.

When you save, quit and resume a scenario using rolling stock that is updated to TS2013 (NEC and Sherman Hill) the rolling stock isn't initialized properly and falls back to "default" controls, which make your RailDriver work.
When you resume a Sherman Hill sencario, all lights are back on etc., a sure sign the emitters haven't been switched off by proper scenario initialisation.

This is my explanation, but since I don't own a RailDriver console, you'd better wait for a more authorative answer.

Thank you Kanawha for the detailed description. Just looking for a solution for the AEM7, if there is one! Hope someone else can add to the dialogue.
