I decided to finally tackle the long career routes on Donner, I started off with "Under Pressure".
3 Hours into the route I reach the Colfax Main track 2 checkpoint and what do I see? Another train on my track coming my way. Head on collision, end of game.
Is there a way to fix this?
Can I make that train not be there somehow?
Man, I really don't want to have to start over again, can someone please help? (I don't have RW Tools)
And if it is possible to fix, can that be explained to me in easy to understand terms?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You cannot do anything with the career scenarios. If you try to edit them in rwtools then it grays out the scenario and you can no longer even play it

Depends on which head-on you are talking about. The first one I didn't notice until it was too late. I went back to a save that had the AI train a few car lengths from a switch. I quickly switched it off my track and applied my brakes. Once it passed, I then moved on.

Then later on I was on a single track and to my horror there was an AI train heading straight for me and I smacked it head-on. I went to a save just before the collision and stopped within feet of an opposing signal and waited while the AI train stopped at the light. I was head to head with it.. I tried to reverse, but going uphill backwards with major wheelslip to a crossover that was a couple miles back would have taken forever. So I saved and quit. Came up with the desperate idea to push the AI train down the mountain until I hit a crossover and move on. I doubt you can normally touch an AI train without ending the mission as a result. But I tried it anyways cuz didn't want to start over and was in the home stretch.

And what happened? I was able to drive THROUGH the AI train like it was a hologram. I have pictures of my train MELDED (clipping through) the AI train and I was able to complete the task.

If you know around what part of the line these collisions will happen, be sure to have map view ON ahead of time scanning for AI trains heading towards you and switch them out of the way. Both my collisions happened coming down the WESTSIDE of the pass heading towards ROSEVILLE.
