Blueprint Editor Fails To Start

Unread postby Vermonter » Thu Aug 23, 2012 11:09 am

Hellow Everyone
Thought today would open Blueprint Editor for the first time
when I click the game tab for this it places a tab in my lower toobar
when I left click that tab nothing happens when I right click then follow with a left
it gives me a message "unable to read schema"
I'm hoping someone may be able to guide me ..
I verified all files via Steam which found no issues
Thank You

Sounds to me like the "forced minimize" bug. Try right-clicking on the taskbar showing that the program is running and then select "Maximize".

only options given in the lower taskbar when right clicking are
blueprint editor application
pin this application to taskbar
close window
right clicking the upper taskbar on train sim panel
& choosing maximize just makes the panel larger but fails to do anything
to open blueprint editor
all the other blue tabs work fine

Try double clicking the BlueprintEditor.exe in the main Railworks folder and see if t will start on its own.

When this happens to me I have to select the editor icon in the task bar, press the Windows key and left arrow. This will left justify the application (using the right arrow right justifies it).

You need to press the Windows key (mine says Start) and an arrow key (not both, just one).

Thanks Papa & Hack For The Helping Hand
I discovered my fix (3-Steps) which may work for others when it happens
Step1: Open Railworks Main Folder
Step2: Open Temp Folder
Step3: Remove _tempDescriptors.XML (This will auto-update when Blueprint Editor opens)
Step4: (Optional) Remove _BlueprintEditorRect.dat (This will auto-update when Blueprint Editor opens)
Step5: Open Blueprint Editor normally

Steps 3&4: I say Remove til your sure Blueprint Editor opens correctly once again
Once you know opens/works again for you... Then can safely delete the 1 or 2 files removed
