The locomotive looks great !*YAAA*!
But.....Got a problem with the bell. I tried to press B and its not turining off. I have to do it manually inside the cab. Just wanna give you a heads up . Everything else works great! *&!welcome!&*

It seems that the code for the bell got deleted while I was mucking around in the Input Mapper. I will pencil it in for a repair with the next update.

Jerry,

First of all congrats !*brav*! it's a very nice engine, with a lovely engine sound, with a lot of features. !!*ok*!!

About the Bell I found what is the problem... in the Input Mapper the keystroke B is set to the parameter GlarePanels, just change to Bell and it will work to deactivate Bell with "B", but only after has passed the 10secs of ditch light functioning (that's because the way you did the script, BTW very nice the combo effect of horn/bell/ditch light, it's likely realistic).

Nothing like see the codes, instead of words and shots, to diagnose a problem. The rear light (or headlight) on when coupled to another vehicle is a known problem of code, which I've reported a long time ago (twice) to RSC and... no cure so far. It happens with a second engine (or any DPU in the middle of consist) when you couple at the rear (or at the front) and the rear light (or headlight) is on. To avoid this issue, for example, is just turn rear light off before couple to another vehicle at the rear end of engine.

What I'm not understanding is why, in your engine, both head and rear light turn on (not at same time) when coupled, this is a new behavior I have not seen before, maybe due to something in your script (lua? I didn't checked it yet). I'm investigating.

Another thing I found is the use of Taillight, you did it in a different way RSC has coded taillight. But I'll will explain what is and the difference in another post with shots. Hold on.

Cheers,
Doc.

Whooooa! I think something is amiss here. There are no glare panels in the C398_Expert Input Mapper, and the reason the bell is not working is because there is no Bell in the code. I'm thinking it was accidentally deleted when I added the Ditch Lights and External Windows to the Input Mapper. You sure you are looking at the C398_Expert IM? There are two copies - one in the Asset/SMMDigital/C398/.../ Input Mapper folder, and the other in the Assets/Kuju/RailSimulatorCore/InputMappers folder. My IM was derived from the Default Diesel.

As far as the lights, i'll check into whatever you find, but I also found out last night that I was using the wrong script for the Engine. I was using the Simulation script. Once I placed a .lua in my Engine folder and coded it, some of my child objects that had not worked before came to life.

it is using the Input Mapper of
\SMMDigital\C398\RailVehicles\Diesel\C398\Default\InputMappers\C398_Expert.bin. I'm sure because I've just deleted the mapper of RailSimulatorCore\InputMappers and it did worked. But it will also work if you delete the mapper of C398 product folder and leave the mapper of Core folder.

The why... Wiki says input mapper must be placed (preferably) in the same Provider/Product (SMMDIgital/C398, in case) of engine. When you start TS2012 the first cache created is of \RailSimulatorCore (and only of it) and all its content will be loaded into the game's memory. Then when you launch a scenario the game will create/load other caches (now of all the Providers/Products related to the scenario), so the input mapper of Core will be override by the engine product mapper.

Bottom line: You don't need two mappers in different places, just in one of them is enough.

BTW I'd suggest you to create a function (In input mapper) to the cab light, so hitting (say) "L" will toggle cablight on/off. You can set an unused steam engine control (say Dumper) to assign L (or L and Shift-L) to the cab light. At night it took me a time to click (blind) in the darkness until I hit casually the swtich on the roof. *!lol!* *!!wink!!*

Cheers,
Doc.

I got to quit drinking while i'm building Assets. I guess that would explain why I couldn't find "Bell" in the search terms when I looked at the file with RW_Tools. I've got to put in several more entries as well for Step, Walkway, and Marker lights. I'm running out keys on the keyboard and switches in the cab!

Fumbled in the dark for the cab light ehh? Think of how the real Engineers must have felt. When I saw where the control was located when I looked at the GE manual for this locomotive I thought to myself that must have been a real PIA to deal with.

hehehe.. !*roll-laugh*! nah! what is a (portable) flashlight for? As far as I've seen, crew at night, in dark yards, always bring a small one in the pockets... *!!wink!!*

Hi SMM,
Trying to swap the C398 into a scenario using RW Tools, it doesn't show up when I click on the "find available rolling stock" button. This works well with all other DLC engines. I have no idea why it doesn't work, maybe something wrong with the engine blueprints.

Don't understand C39 is off from your download list. Still working pretty good on the TS13!!*ok*!!

Don't see the reason why should've been taken off. Still love it. !*drool*!

I understand about the route, I too, wanted to do the Disney World but alot problems had occurred and decided to quit on it. Sure the routes gives you problems but not your SmmXing, signals and C39. They still work great. I'm sure Seaboard on fb doesn't have issues using your crossing.

Daniel

Don't give up hope! You still are good making these assets and we're all happy to download them from you. They're awesome! !*brav*!
