SD70 Total Lighting and Sound Enhancement Pack

Unread postby USNENFTS » Sun Aug 12, 2012 11:08 pm

Alright, so I read the Read-Me and did what it said. I'm curious as to why all my SD70ACe's, M-2's and MACS all vanished from my consists except for their couplers. What's up with this? Kinda strange, there is nothing in the Read-Me about it... I installed the pack to the main Railworks folder, perhaps that's the mistake? It didn't say in the Read-Me where to install the pack to, just says "run" the set-up which has no installation path so that's the one I gave it, to the Railworks folder... I tried clearing the cache and it didn't do anything so I re-updated TS2012 so everything is back to default... Any ideas or solutions? Thanks...

Hi Brandon,

Only the couplers in the air is a problem related to textures and .geo files, the pack didn't touch in this area.

The pack uses the famous and reliable RW Tools' installer. When you launch the RW_AssetSetup.exe (run as Administrator, if the case) will open a windows in which is (yes) the installation path (to the left is writen Rail Works Path), usually in default installations:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks

The Railworks Path (in the white box) is manually editable or you can browse clicking in the "...." buttom (to the right). The last folder in the path must be \railworks. Another problem you may be having is when extracting the file, you have to use the option "Extract here" and only then run the RW_AssetSetup.exe.

There are more informations in the original thread of pack.

Cheers,
Doc.

Yeah, I ran as admin and made sure that the last folder said railworks and my MACs/ACe's disappear. I don't have the UP ACe's but I do have the BNSF, CN, and NS, ACe's or "M-2" Same thing.... I don't think that would cause them to vanish would it?

I also don't think so, what RW_AssetSetup.exe does is copy the \railworks folder of pack into (....)\Steam\steamapps\common, therefore merging both \railworks folders in one, replacing the default engines.bin by the new enhanced ones. The installer creates new folders when they don't exist yet in the user's directory tree, but two users that didn't own Pack01 have reported problem when installing the pack (there is no explanation for this, unless the installer changed behavior lately in certain users' installation). Therefore you can also try to copy and paste manually, merging both folders. You'll be asked to overwrite \railworks folder once it already exists, then say yes (overwrite) for all the other files.

Looks like you have only "SD70 Volume 2 add-on", which includes SD70Pack02 and SD70Pack03. As per readme if you don't own SD70Pack01 you'll see in the Scenario Editor the UP and the DRGW engines listed, but you won't be able to place them in the tracks (you'll see only the couplers). However the other liveries ACe's or M-2s shouldn't be affected. As I posted in the other thread, I myself have tested twice to install the pack when Pack01 (UP and DRGW) are not present in the game and I didn't have any problem, the other liveries of Pack02 and Pack03 worked flawlessly. !*don-know!*

Thank you, we tried to do the best we can so far, it's not perfect but is better then default. The installer is the same, the installation procedure is the same. Go figure! !*don-know!*

Do you know how to use Scenario Editor? You should try to create a freeroam scenario and place the engines you own on the tracks, and check if it works. Wheter the installation is correct you will see also a lot of engines starting with 70-Helper (liveries), 70a-Helper (liveries) etc.

Another thing that came to my mind is that there are two SD70 packs, the second (newer) is an Expansion pack, and requires the "normal" pack to be installed previously. May be that? *!rolleyes!*

Install this first:
http://railworksamerica.com/FileLibrary ... ng_Pack_v1

And only then install the Expansion Pack (it's hosted in Library above the "main and normal" pack):

You might be one of those people that need BOTH packs for this to work properly. I had to do that. *!lol!*
