My LAST attempt!!

Unread postby nosloptrianman » Sat Jul 28, 2012 4:30 pm

I have done some mighty nice looking, IMHO, reskins for this simulator but this numbering thing has driven me to the edge.
I have repainted the SD75 Hopper Version 3 that came with the SD75 download from RSC.
There is a default version and versions 1, 2 and 3 included.
I have reskinned version 3 in GATX paint, photo included.
I have verified the bin file is pointing to the .dscv file in version 3 by removing one of the primary numbers in the version 3 texture folder and i get a missing texture error in the sim.
I have modified the .dscv file to only one number, that being 555555.
I still get 543210 on the train car in the sim.
Also, if I click on the car as to change the number in the scenario, it shows 534415, although the car is displaying 543210.
i am at my wits end here.
Where have I gone wrong and PLEASE, someone tell me how to correct this?
I am about ready top chuck it all into the RECYCLE BIN.
And I mean it ALL!!

I'll bet there's a mistake in the edited .dscv file. Why don't you post it here and we can take a look at it. If you just want one number, why not replace the digit graphic files with Michael Stephan's invisible numbers.

I only used one number to narrow things down to be sure I had the right file.
I want to use the autonumbers at some point.
Here is the file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<cCSVArray xmlns:d="http://www.kuju.com/TnT/2003/Delta" d:version="1.0" d:id="1241536">
<CSVItem>
<cCSVItem d:id="20160856">
<X d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</X>
<Y d:type="sFloat32" d:alt_encoding="0000000000000000" d:precision="string">0.0000</Y>
<Name d:type="cDeltaString">555555</Name>
</cCSVItem>
</CSVItem>
</cCSVArray>

I said something about this in another post. The car wants to read a 6 digit number. Change the 555555 to 555 and see if the car comes up with no number on it and we'll go from there. You'll have to reload the car to see if it works. Delete the asset from the scenario and then put it back in as new.

<Name d:type="cDeltaString">555</Name>

555 leaves the number blank.
It also comes up as the number when you select the car to edit the car number.
Thanks!

Ok. That's not fixing it but it shows it is reading your dscv.
It's basically what I did for the ES44 heritage locos. I made the dscv all two digits. Wants to read 4. 11,22,33,44, etc. That way the loco will show blank because I have the number painted on but assigns it a 2 digit number so you can have more than one of the same unit as a different number for scenarios and such.

I would really like to go with the auto numbering, which until this reskin I was not having a issue with.
How do I get it to read the numbers I want to put in the dscv file?
I am familiar with using the invisible numbers, which I did on my caboose repaints but I do want a series of 5 digit numbers on this one, probably a dscv with a list of about 10 or 15 different road numbers.

Hi,

There are two more possible reasons for "sticky autonumbers": Any changes done to the list of autonumbers (the DCSV file contents) will only apply to cars placed in the scenario editor after doing the edits. That's because the scenario saves the number of each placed car, so editing the DCSV file won't affect it.

Also, as far as I know the DCSV is part of the Blueprints.pak cache file, so you'd have to clear the cache each time after editing a dcsv file.

Cheers,
Michael

Maybe I should clarify.
I DO WANT to use the Auto Numbering for this car.
I DO WANT to edit the dscv file and use the numbers of MY choosing in that file.
When I edit the dscv that came with the car, in other words, put in my own numbers, it will then only display 543210.
I know how to make the numbers not appear, but that is not what I want.
I guess if I cannot get this figured out then I WILL make them not show and just paint on my own car numbers and make several duplicate cars to run.
Yes, I always clear the cache and always place a "new" car in the scenario after I edit the dscv file.
What makes no sense to me is, when I plug 6 digits into the dscv file, such as 555555, the car displays 543210, ALWAYS and when I request to edit the car number, it shows the number 534415.
Where is it pulling that number from and why THAT number over and over?
This has not happened to me with any of the other cars in the sim.
This is all very odd.
Thanks!

I'm sure you probably have but, did you inspect all the digits in the texture folder? 0 through 9 TgPcDx's? Maybe digit 4 is actually 3 or something like that. Just a silly thought. !*don-know!*

Checking on that now.
I am about ready to say 'Uncle" and just add some numbers to the reskin and call it good.
I can always use RWTools to clone a few and make it happen that way.
I am just to stubborn to give up the fight, however.

Don't see any problem with the textures being the wrong ones.
Never had this much trouble before.
And so it goes.
Thanks!

Hi,

I don't have the SD75 so I can't check that, but here's another thought -- could it be that the car's blueprint references a DCSV file in a different folder than where the car's blueprint is in? Like for example, DCSV file is in hopper\default\wagon, but the car blueprint is in hopper\def2\wagon. Or something like that.

Something similar happened to me a while ago with a child object, I did a "search/replace all" for the paths in the blueprint, but that of course skipped the entries for files that were aliased to different folders.

Cheers,
Michael

When I edit the dscv for the car it does effect the numbering in that if I make it 555 the car numbers disappear.
If I make it 555555 then I get 543210 on the car in the sim.
Does that make sense?
