SD40T-2 installation problem

Unread postby NickF » Mon Jul 16, 2012 7:23 pm

I've installed Michael Zimmer's repaints for the Donner Pass SD40T-2 in RW3, but they don't show up in the game. Anybody got any suggestions? I've copied the geopcdx shape file, and the entire cabview folder as directed, deleted the blueprint files. but still no luck.

Anybody gotten them to work in 2012?

The engine won't show up if you delete the blueprint files.

You have to delete the blueprint CACHE files.
The are .PAK files.

The .pak files are the ones I deleted. And RW doesn't seem to want to let me delete the cache; the button's always greyed out. What I have to do is a search for blueprint.pak files in Explorer and delete them that way.

The delete button is grayed out when you launch RW (the big button). This is because RW will start the process of rebuilding the (as needed) when you launch it.

Yeah, but how long should that take? I mean, sometimes I start RW, go get a cup of coffee, and come back, go to the Tools tab 5 minutes later, and it's still greyed out. But if I search the Railworks folder with Explorer I can still find .pak files.

It wil stay greyed out until you restart the game.
Also for some reason this button doesn't always work: I, too, find lots of files it missed.

It always seems to be greyed out when I start the game, and it never becomes active.

And this thread is getting a little far afield from my original question.

You did state which route you are trying to add the SD40-2 to.

Have you checked Kuju RailworksUS in the object browser?

To play SD40T-2 SP in other route than Donner Pass you have to check the blueprint RSC | DonnerPass. The engines' names start with "DP" (DP SD40T-2 SouPac, for example).

Edited later: the correct name of product is DonnerPass.

OK, but I guess I wasn't asking the right question. The Donner Pass default SD's show up fine. It's tye Michael Zimmer reskins that don't. They appear in the englins list, and I can select them for placement. Problem is nothing shows up but the couplers.

I've heard there are some problems with reskins for RW2 not showing up in models for RW3 and I was trying to confirm whether these were some of them.

The problem you are describing sounds like you do not have the GEO files copied over to each of the repaint folders.

I just checked again; I do have the GEO files copied that he specifies in the readme file.

I'm trying to install these as well and having a good deal of trouble, I've followed the readme's instructions to a T and still the same issue as the OP is having...Anyone have any ideas? I have cleared the blueprint cache.
