I think you need to contact Steam support.

How did you find out what the new password was?

It's pretty easy 'hacking' into that Steam account after posting the passwords in a public place. !DUH!

You just told everybody that has access to this forum, which is anyone and everyone; members or not. That includes Google, Bing, Yahoo, and a dozen or more search engines.

Besides, you're passwords are a bit weak and easy for a hacker to guess using the right software. You should use stronger passwords. Check your password strength at this site.

http://www.passwordmeter.com/

jocob 7 only gained a strength score of 27%. Very weak.

Here's an article that discusses how to create good passwords.

Did you contact Steam Support about it?

If you recover your account, you get the game, but it will be charged to you. Steam will most likely give a refund, altho that's not 100%. L4D isn't a bad game. I had my Steam account hijacked once, changed up to a better password. I only have 170 or so games on Steam. They love me. I have a concierge on call. !*roll-laugh*!

Use a combination of letters and numbers for your new password. Now, It has to be asked, did you tell your password to anyone? Or it was just hacked? !*don-know!*

I may be wrong, but if I remember right; anytime you change something in your Steam account, like password or email, aren't you sent a verification email that has to be replied to (click on the link in the email) before the change takes affect?

If so, you might want to check your email address in your Steam account. It might have been changed as well.

Someone that knows your Steam name can ask for a password reset, and send it to their own e mail address. That's how mine was hijacked. It is possible, with some software, to hack your password. I can hack yours, Ed, altho I would never, ever do that. I do have morals and values (different thread).

SD75, it will take Steam a few days to sort things out, so be patient. You will need credit card info, etc. But they will get you fixed.

Mine may be a little more difficult to hack than some. *!greengrin!*

I typically use 16 characters, with a combination of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters, wherever possible.

I also use different passwords everywhere. I never use the same password twice. *!!wink!!*

If I can guess your new password, can I delete your Steam account?

I strongly recommend against posting info that you've changed your account, or that you're using x-characters and/or numbers. Keep it to yourself. *!rolleyes!*
