Operation successful or not?

Unread postby Chacal » Sun Jun 24, 2012 1:47 pm

Has this happened to you and were you able to fix it?
I complete an operation in a scenario, and it disappears from the F1 task list displayed with the F4 HUD.
However when I display the task list without the F4 HUD (the old-style task list with the green checkmarks and red Xs), it is still marked as incomplete.
What causes the difference?

In this particular case, it is a drop operation in the new "Tucker Industrial" scenario for the Colton Northern route.
The track marker is very short (a few feet long). I tried putting the first car on the marker, then putting the engine on the marker, but to no avail.

Depending on how scenario writer made the instruction it can be shown as successfully or unsuccessfully completed through instruction's pop up screen.

F1 new style (with F4 HUD) holds the instruction until it is completed. When the instruction has gone away from list, it means it was completed, but there is no safe way (whilst in F4 HUD mode) to know if successfully or unsucessfully (especially if writer didn't add a pop up message).

F1 old style in fact shows when the instruction was successfully completed (green check marked) or unsucessfully completed (red X marked). When is blank (unmarked) it means uncompleted yet.

Usually, in a drop off instruction the car (or all the cars, depending of instruction) that is being dropped must be over the marker, otherwise the game usually doesn't get to know if you dropped it correctly or not. Short marker for dropping off operations usually is not a good idea.

I don't have the route, so I can't be helper.

Doc.

Edited later: in your case, Chacal, the game is telling you that you have "completed" the instruction (once it gone away of the new F1 list), but you failed (if you got a red X on F1 old fashioned screen).

Thanks.
I've noticed problems in the consist: there are extra cars (not listed in the consist) that have no car number.
I suspect the game may get confused about that.

Sometimes to end a scenario, you have to uncouple the cars from the locomotives.
