Can not change cab after resume

After resuming a scenario I can not change cab anymore ( ctrl + = ) and therefore I can only go forward in the wrong direction.

Any idea how to solve this ?

Resuming saved game has ever caused issues (more in RW2 then now in RW3), so it's not adviced. Anyway (you didn't say what is the scenario/engine, and how long you need to move forward or backward) you can go in the correct direction moving backward (maybe you are shunting for a while).

A possible fixing is you run a bit the resumed scenario (say 1 minute long, you don't need to move if the case), save and resume again. Often the issue goes away... not always, of course.

But if one does not want to pause the game for a night resuming is the only way to continue, right ?

I was free roaming east of Covington on the C&O Alleghany route, going east.

Ok, will try that

Have you tried button smashing shift and ctrl at the same time?

What would <Shift> + <Ctrl> have to do with changing cabs? To change cabs (either from one end of a double-cab loco or from one loco to another, stop the train completely and then press either <Ctrl> + <-> (that's a minus sign) or <Ctrl> + <=>. I've read posts claiming that the reverser has to be at 0%, but that doesn't really seem necessary.

I can't say for sure whether I've had any difficulty with this after resuming from a saved scenario, but I'll give it a try and report back. Has this happened to you just once or multiple times? Which route and scenario? More importantly, perhaps, which engine and were you trying to change from one end of an engine to another or from one engine to another?

Hi Old Prof,

It happened to me all the time one one particular resume. I only tried Ctrl and =, did not try Ctrl and -. Was trying to change from 1 end of two engines to the other end of the other engine. I was free roaming "From the Top C&O"" east of Covington on the C&O Alleghany route, going east. I do not know how exactly to find out which engines they where in the sim (pointers appreciated), but it was BNSF 5732 and CSX 5433

I "fixed" it by driving for a few minutes (as was suggested by Machinist) and then trying again.

Can confirm that now ctrl and = as well as ctrl and - will change cab.

Tried to recreate the issue about a douzen times this morning, but did not succeed. I guess that is good !!*ok*!!

!!*ok*!! This tip is also useful, after saving and resuming, if you are having problems with AI Trains colliding each other or derailing etc. !*salute*!

By button smashing, I meant pressing shift and ctrl rapidly. I do this if I can't control something. Usually works for me, but good to hear you got it working.
