Looooooow FPS with TSX (high perf computer)

Unread postby Corsair » Sun Apr 08, 2012 11:11 am

Hey all,

I continue my performance tests with TS2012, and I noticed a big slow down when TSX is on..
First, my PC:
• i5 2500k
• ASUS GTX580, last drivers
• 8Go Corsair RAM
• W7 Home 64

• Shadows, Shaders, Water, particles, Passengers: medium
• Scenery: 9
• View distance, terrain/objects texture: high
• Procedural flora: ON.

• Tried with no AA, FXAA and MSAAx4, anisotropic on x8.

I noticed this slow down especially on Donner Pass and SECML.
I.E, i get 15 fps on SECML "Dundee to Perth" scenario.. Same on "Under pressure" (Donner pass) scenario.

This is really surprising cuz I consider that my computer would be able to run RW3 in acceptable conditions.. I run in v11.0b.
If somebody gets good performance, can you show me your parameters, including nVidia control panel ?

Thanks a lot
Corsair

Reduce Shader Quality to low, and uncheck Procedural Flora. Let also unchecked Adaptive Bloom and Depth of Field. You have a good graphic card, but is your CPU dual core? What is the Ghz? Maybe your neck is the processor, as many people on here is saying....

This is weird. The only difference between yours and my computer is the graphics card. I have a 470, and have no trouble at highest settings @30 FPS on all routes but WCML, and a few others. May I ask, what is your RAM speed?

2x667Mhz = 1333Mhz..
I noticed that even if i get better results on SECML, the frame rate is still slow in "Under pressure" scenario, @Donner Pass (15/20fps)..

I took my RAM from 1600Mhz to it's rated speed of 1866, wow, what a difference. I saw about the same 10 frames on most if not all scenarios/ routes I have run. Barstow/ San Bernadino at 60 frames? Used to be 20, maybe 30.

This is exactly what I was going to say! Turning on XMP on the highest profile will make a difference! You need an Intel processor that supports it and XMP ram, then just enable it in your bios. Just wait though, DDR4 is coming very soon.
