Still wsaiting for RW2 assets

Unread postby William_Putnam » Thu Apr 05, 2012 1:42 pm

How long has it been now since RW3 has been out?

Before that, in RW2, I made a very extensive modification/expansion to the Barstow-San Bernadino route with extensions to Palmdale and Mojave and many, many sidings and industries.

When RW3 came to be, I had to do a complete reinstallation of all switches and some trackwork to make it work, and that has been completed, but......but....

...many assets that were available in RW2 are still missing, including many buildings, moble home parks, industral conveyors, etc. are still giving me a whole bunch of "milk bottles" (indicating those missing assets) that continue to plague my work.

i believe those assets were "core assets" in RW2 and they are still not available....unacceptable!

If this is the way the RailWorks people work, insisting on giving defective (at a cost) routes, such as the horrible Donner Pass route and ignore us folks who have done past work, in a former simulator, how will it be when "RW4" hits the market?

Disgusted....

You sure you were not using other assets from other routes you dont have installed any more? I started my route in RW1 and went to 2 with no problems then to 3 to finish it with no missing objects.

I am sure that I have not. But it may be worth for me to see what routes I once had in RW2 and I have no longer...because there was a time when I had to to a completely reinstall RailWorks; the upgrade to RW3 messed me up so badly...

Come to think of it, I have recently installed several freeware routes, but they do not have the assets I am looking for...

Also, the download files have nothing of the assets I am missing.

Thanks for te reply and suggestions, artimr. Methinks I do have some of your stuff, but alas, not what I am looking for. :)

To my knowledge RSC has not removed any default asset when they upgraded the engine to RW3.
In all the RW1 or RW2 routes that I have loaded, I have never seen one milk bottle.

I support artimj's suggestion that you check your routes for non-default assets.

Thank you for your reply, Chacal, but I once again, I looked for routes that I may have discarded...no joy...including all routes and assets available in the RW2 section in the Files section.

There are mystery assets no longer available to me, and I continue to have "milk bottles" all over the place! :(

What is RW_Tools showing as missing?

I attempted to do this again, and I have absolutely no idea how to use RW-tools. In fact, attempting to do this resulted in my having to do the "three-finger-salute" to bang out of the program!

This is why I have never purchased the tools, as even with the manual, I am completely flumoxed by it...sorry.

Perhaps you can suggest how I can do this in RW-tools...?????????

In RWTools, click on the Route Building Tools tab, click on check routes or scenarios, click on your route in the top pane, and click the Check Selected Route button. A new window will open showing the missing assets.

Don

Thank you for your response, Don, but I can only get as far as, clicking of the Route Building Tools Tab. If I then click on the "routes or scenarios" tab, I get the following:

ERROR #53 FILE NOT FOUND.

Module FrmDelRoute
Proedure Form_load

Attempting to click out of that brings up another message:

If line 113........(so many words, speaking of an error within the program) then comes up, and then when I click out of that,
it returns the above mentioned Error #53 message. and on and on and on, switching back and forth between the two error messages, forcing me to
do the "three finger salute" routine to get to the desk top and out of RW-tools completely.

I have no idea what is going on, noting that RW3 runs normally in other routes (which do not use the assets I am looking for) other then the milk bottles in the route I was working in, originally present in RW2.

I have one more free use of RW-tools before, what? Will it lock me out unless I register and pay for RW-tools?

On Edit: I have checked validity of all files in Steam until I am black and blue in the face! Also, I clear the cashe everytime I load the simulator.

Second Edit: I attempted it again, but now I am locked out. I did send a donation to Mike for the program, hoping once and for all that I can solve my problem.....I will have to wait for the key for full registration. **!!bang!!**

Third Edit: Have it registered now , but I still have the problem........... !*hp*!

From RW Tools manual:

Running the program - First time
Before you can use this program, you must go to the Options Menu and set up several ‘Paths’ so that the
program knows where to find the files it is to work on.
Train Simulator 2012 Path - Most importantly you must set up the path to your RailWorks.exe file. Usually
by default this will be c:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\common\Train Simulator 2012 but can of course be
anywhere.

Yes, I did all that, but the problem ended up being the fact that since I have Windows7, I must run RW-tools as an administrator. Bingo! That worked!

Now,I still have some problems but by looking as the same route I am working on, but a slightly earlier save of that route, I got a list of missing asset files a mile long! And not from one provider, but across many well known including Kuju, sources that I have checked in the special right-hand pullout window in the edit mode of the route I am working on. !*not-ok*!

Now, the sixty four thousand dollar question is: How in the world do I aquire those missing files?????????????????????????? **!!bow!!**
