Moving around the 3D map

Unread postby LionelDave » Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:58 pm

I'm editing a route and want to move to different parts of the route. What is the best way to get there in the 3D map? I know there is an easier way to get there than just moving the cursor until you get to the spot you want espically if its 20 miles away.

I know if you put the lat. and long. in the navigation popup. and click on the go icon it should take you there. My problem is how do I find the lat. and long. of the place where I want to go??

I go to the 2D map and can easily go to where i want but the navigation popup does not tell me the lat. and long. of where I'm at. (even when I left click on the spot)

From reading the manual I get the impression there ia a way to do this but I just haven't been able to get it to work.

Any help will be greatly appricated.

Hi Dave,
Does the route have a marker file? Click on the silver button icon next to the compass, then move your cursor over to the right hand side of the window. If you get a fly-out with location names, pin that open. You can now select a location name from the list by single left clicking on it, then click on the triangle "Go" button and you will fly to that location. I know at one time you could navigate to other locations in a route by using the 2-D window, but I think this option was lost a few upgrades ago. The only other option if you are working on a prototype route, is to use Google Earth, it will display decimal degree coordinates that you can type into the lat and lon boxes.

Rich_S

Thanks so much for the information. It really helped even though my route didn't have any file markers. I did see the flyout and now I won't keep trying to made the 2D map work. !*hp*!

Thanks again
