Install issues with the SD70MAC repaints :( help?

Unread postby NorfolkSouthern3173 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 4:23 pm

I am trying to download the 7-ZIP SD70MAC repaints for my railworks3. I HAVE purchased the SD70MAC add-on from Steam. When I go to download the repaint, I save the file, extract it with my 7-ZIP extracting program, then I can find the folder under my downloads.... Here is where I get confused, When I open the folder, there is a assets folder, 2 images & a read-me.. Personally, I find the read-me completley un-helpful. It's probably me being stupid & not doing something right but I am hoping someone here can help me out. What do I do next? Do I move this file here or that file there? If anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong or what exactly to do, that would be awesome. Thanks:)

Where did you get it? I searched the library file here and can't find any reference to SD70MAC. I'm sure I can help you out if I can find it. You talking about the BNSF one?

Simply drop the "Assests" folder into your Railworks folder. You may need to copy a shape file from the default SD70... check the readme for details.

There should be a rwp file there after you unzip the critter. Go to package manager in the Train Simulator 2012 v11.06b page. It will take a couple of minutes after you hit refresh for the list to show up. Hit install and browse to the rwp file for this loco wherever you have it unzipped. click open and it should run.

Then go into your Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\SD70Pack03\RailVehicles\Diesel\SD70MAC\Default\Engine

There you should find a file called SD70_Mac01.GeoPcDx. Make sure you get the GeoPcDx file. Copy and paste it into the SD70MAC\BNSF 9647\Engine folder. Make sure you activate the loco and away you go.

Actually, you don't have to hit refresh. Just select the install button and navigate to the rwp file and select it. it will install OK without waiting for the refresh.

With all due respect buzz, back when I had RW installed, I never hit the refresh button before installing an rwp. I only hit refresh after installing.
I always did it as Dick mentioned.

I said excuse me because I didn't know that. If it came off some other way it wasn't meant to be negative.

I have figured out a lot with y'alls help! I have run into an issue however.. I download the CSX repaint, unzip it & then I can find the assets folder.. Well the readme says I need to open up my railworks folder & drop the assets folder there.. Well, how? There is already an assets folder there.. So I kinda skipped that part & left the assets folder from the repaint download, in my downloads folder, so I opened up the SD70MAC folder under Assets>RSC>SD70MAC & so on, Ill copy the CSX folder from my assets located in "downloads" & paste it in the same folder as the NS, CN & two BNSF folders, which is under my railworks folder.. I drag the scernio, boggies & all them folders EXCEPT for the engine folder of corse. Then I go & copy that one file out of one of the default folders, which ever one it tells me to do, & I drop it into the CSX engine folder. When I open railworks & can find the engine in my list, but when I click on it to place it on the tracks, my game locks up & I have to tab out & close the application. What am I missing?

Just drop the assests folder from your download into the Railworks folder... it will merge it with the one that is already there without overwriting anything except a few files that your download shares with existing assets.

AND don't forget that one file everyone tells you about. That's the shape file. When people make repaints, they're not allowed include the whole loco or it would be in breach of copywrite. So all they do is offer the WHOLE loco minus that one file. So if you keep everything together the way it came in the download then copy that one file across you can be sure you wont miss anything out.
