Union Pacific (UP) RSC3 Re-Paint Not Showing Up!

Unread postby gkbaldwin » Thu Feb 16, 2012 4:22 pm

Hi;

I started a new thread to keep the SP&S issue and the UP issue separate.

I downloaded your Union Pacific (UP) RSC3 Re-Paint from the RWA file library. Installed the packager using TS2012 packager and copies over the object RSC3-sl-RW3.GeoPcDx to tne new UP-RSC3 folder.
Using test trak route and updating free roam scenario to display the new locomotive. What show is nothing, as if the object file was not present.
The default RSC3 locomotive shows fine, but for some reason yours shows up a invisible?

I have tried all the object files just to see if I had the wrong one but it still loads and displays as invisible.

Not sure what is going on here, any help would be appreicated.

Regards, Gerry

Re: Union Pacific (UP) UPY-588 GP15-1 Not Showing Up!

I wonder....

When I get home I will look into this as well. MadMike may have left the snow emitters on the model which require Donner Pass. Actually UPY-588 doesn't really need them. It was stationed around the Bay Area for many years and only recently moved off to other parts of the country (which makes a case to keep them...).

I'm confused... are we talking about the RSC3 or the GP15-1? If you are needing to move a .geo file, it can't be the GP15, as it's included.

Your are right I did confuse the situation. it is the UP RSC3 (Union Pacific (UP) RSC3 Re-Paint) that is in picture and does require copying the object file from Dick's default RSC3.

The GP-15 UPy-588 will be the next one I will tee up as it shows up, but with duplicate detail flying above the unit (will send picture).

I have been going through all the TS2012 compatible rolling stock and adding to my sim. and as I find issues I am posting them here.

Sorry for the confusion...my mistake.

Hi Mike;

Did I clear up the confusion? The RSC3 UP repaint is the one not showing up.

As for the Gp15 UPy-588 that is working fine no issue there.

You did clear it up. I see you are using the test track route for your trials.

Do you have the Kuju blueprints enabled? I recall the RS3 series had some dependencies on the Kuju\RailsimulatorUS\ folders, causing strange results with stuff not appearing.

Check and see if you have the Kuju folders enabled.

Hi again;

Still learning about the simulator ins and outs.

How do I check to see if the Kuju blueprints are enabled?

OK I went to route editor, selected TestTrak, clicked on small blue cube (with orange triangle), went to right flyout and selected Kuju and made sure all boxes were checked.

Still not seeing the unit?

I'm totally baffled. The only external reference for any of the structure is to the SD-40 in the Railsimulator US folder. Everything else is called from within the Britkits ALCO folders.

If you can get the default Family lines model to show, the installation is probably correct. You could try copying the RSC3-01 and RSC3-02 texture files from the UP folder into the default folder (rename the originals first!) and see if it works that way.

Hi Mike;

I copied over the RS3-01.TgPcDx and RS3-02.TgPcDx files from UP-RSC3\Engine\Texture folder to Default\Engine\Texture. I can view both texture files (they are clearly for a Union Pacific paint scheme).

I ran all of the different default engine.bin files and all without exception showed up perfect, but all were in the Family Lines paint scheme (default).

I copied over the default RS3-01 and RS3-02 to the UP-RSC3 texture folder to check and see if the Family Lines paint scheme would show up, but it came up invisible.

It is like it is not calling for the RS3-01 ans RS3-02 texture files at all.

So if that is the case then the textrue file names have changed?

I agree totally baffled.....Gerry

PS.

I moved the UP-RSC3 unit to Chicago Yard. Bingo.....it appeared. So I thought all was well....think again.

The horn did not work. I checked in the engine.bin file and saw that it used the RS3_Horn-P5. I changed it to RS3_Horn and now the horn worked, but was the wrong horn sound. I tried pointing it the the default Kuju\RailsumulatorUS\Audio.....SD40 horn and the locomotive went invisible again. I tried the RS3_Horn-P5 in the default engine.bin file...it loaded up and was visible, but horn would not work.

Could it be the RS2_Horn-PS is bad? It don't make since to me.

You'll need to copy the _nm and _nmc files as well, the geo uses all three in various places.

Bingo...That worked! it show up in the default folder.

See my previous post however, as it now points to he Horn sound file RS3_Horn-5) As previously stated the unit shows up in using Chicago Yard, but the horn not working and as stated before I can use the RS3_Horn aound, but this is not the right sound. If I point it to the sd40 sound it goes invisible again. Not working.

Gerry

BTW....this is the only downloaded unit I am having issues with. All other TS2012 RWA downloads are working fine.

The RS3_Horn-P5 is one of the default sounds in the alco\audio\railvehicle\rs3\cab\ folder? It seems to work fine here. I'll keep looking.

Hi All;

I have tracked it down to a dependency issue.

For some reason this unit is being dependent on two items from the Britkits EMD Sw1200.

One the Crew folder....it requires the Crew01.GeoPcDx file from Britkits\EMD\Crew. I copied this file over to the Britkits\Alco\Crew and removed it from EMD. Unit was invisible. I put it back in the EMD\Crew folder and unit was visible.

Now to sound. The Emd\Audio\Railvehicles\Diesel\SW1200\Cab .Dav files when present the horn works. I copied them over to the Alco\audio\railvehicle\RS3\Cab folder and removed from EMD\... horn no longer worked. I put them back in the EMD\... and horn now works.

So the bottom line is that for this unit to work it needs the Britkits Sw1200 kits. At least here.

I did a quick peruse of the engine.bin file and cannot see where it is pointing anywhere to EMD. but somewhere it does.

Regards, Gerry
