EMD DD40 Diesel

Unread postby moyeraj » Wed Feb 08, 2012 4:21 pm

Hi,
I wonder if someone can help. I understand that Steam no longer offers the DD40 Diesel, from what I under stand, they did not offer it with TS2012 although it was part of Railsimulator 2 and 3. I would love to have that big engine but can't find it anywhere. Also, they removed it but, I'm not sure they offered a replacement.

The DD40 is created by DTM.

The original model was not offered on Steam. The updated model (also DTM) is currently being certified by RSC so it can be offered on Steam.

Thanks,
I understood that it used to be part of Railworks. An amazing Engine, surprised it wasn't used more broadly.

It was experimental ( the X on the end of the full DD40AX tag ), and I think led to the dash 2 series? it was probably not all that kind to track :)

Kali, UP still uses one for excursions and inspection trains, so it must not be that bad on the rails. Wish CSX ran those funny GEs, BQ23-7's I think they were called? Was never alive to see them.

Yeah today RSC posted a pic of it next to a class 37 on facebook. All of the U.K. kiddies are blasting the thing cause all U.S. locomotives look alike and one guy even saying it belongs in a scrapyard !*roll-laugh*! . While yes a lot of our locomotives look alike, modern ones especially, there are also a lot of U.K. locomotives look alike too. *!rolleyes!*

But trying to get through to some of the people on that facebook page is pointless, I guess I should stop trying !**duh*!!

EDIT: Now they pushed the release of the DD40X back to March 1st (should have saw this coming **!!bang!!** )

Why is it that no one ever mentions the U50D? I had one of those years ago in N-Scale, and it was massive even for that model railroading size.

I don't mention the U50 simple because it reminds me of a cab forward, and I would rather have that before the U50. *!greengrin!*

Oh, I don't mean that RSC should make one. It wasnt very popular with the railroads, and hardly anyone remembers them, as the DD40 got all the press. It was just a very odd locomotive.
