Ridin' the Chief will not load

Hi Guys,

The Ridin' the Chief scenario will not load for me. It often just crashes RW3, not even a SBHH.

I cloned and edited the scenario with RW Tools. There were tons of empty loose consists. Removing them did nothing. I initially had a missing baggage car, but after verifying files that error went away (as viewed in RW Tools). However, the scenario still doesn't load.

Any ideas?

No error message. The RW3 window just silently closes.

Runs fine for me. Have you verified the game files, and cleared the blueprint cache?

Verified the files. Haven't cleared the cache. Will try that next.

I guess I don't understand what the blueprint cache is. Saw on another thread that some folks clear it everytime they run RW3.

Nope. No change after clearing cache.

If I remove it from the package manager it would reinstall after verifying files, right? But to delete it I have to uninstall the P42DC Genesis Pack since I don't see it as a separate item. Or can I delete it from RW Tools?

Removed the scenario with RW Tools and verified files. The scenario was reinstalled... still no joy.

I wonder what I should do next... maybe uninstall the Genesis DLC and redownload the entire thing?

Ok.... removed Genesis pack and reverified files. No difference.

I put the 40th anniversary version of the loco in a free roam scenario and I can't see out the window from the cab. Something is wrong there.... but the scenario loaded, so the loco itself is not the problem why Ridin' the Chief won't load.

Is anyone else having this problem with the 40th anniv Genesis loco?

OK, two options. Reinstall Railworks ( not yet!) or reinstall the Steam client which is your best bet. OK, first copy your "steamapps" folder to your Desktop. That's where all you Steam games are stored.

Take a deep breath. uninstall, then reinstall Steam. Paste that folder back over. Sorry if that doesn't work, you will have to do a reinstall of RW.

I also had this problem to start with. Verifying the integrity of the game cache worked for me, however.

Since there were constant problems, some changes were made to the Ridin' the Chief scenario in the last update for the Genesis pack. Just FYI.

It is. However, the update addresses another error that randomly occured while playing it.
The problem you described is another thing. I'd contact Rick Grout.
