I recently have had trouble running RW. I keep getting ERROR: (145):end tag mismatch after character value File:D:\build\CoreRealease\Code\Libs\Foundation\API\core/cFxEception.h Line:113 Then when I click ok it gives me this Runtime Error! Program: c\program file ... R6025 - pure virtual function call. I am running this on my HP G72 laptop nothing special version. I have hade this setup since I started with RW. I dont recall doing anything to any files or adding model or rolling stock to the game. I have tried the game cache 8 times before I uninstalled everything and redowloaded everything. I then reverfied the game cache but I still get this same failure. It means nothing to me I have no clue I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction thanks.

A runtime error usually means a Windows .net error. What version of Windows are you running, and it is up to date?

I still run XP, but there was a recent NetFramework update available through Windows Update, which I'm sure applied to Win 7 also - if I remember right. If you have Windows Update set to automatically install updates, you most likely got the Net update.
Net updates are known for causing problems on some systems.

the new netframe update takes it to 4.0 (im on win7 also ) , like hawk said, check the windows live update site if you do not have auto updating on ( if you don't then I don't fancy being in your shoes when you start updating again lol )

This error could also mean there is a missing closing tag in theXML of one of the asset files. Have you edited or installed a new asset resently?

Even though there was an update this week it happened on Tuesday (which is fairly typical of MS), so I would say this would least likely cause this problem.
Try clearing the cache and see if that helps. Also, is this happening on any other route?

I cant run any routes I get this error simply by clicking start RW 2012 tab on the opening screen. I have RW installed on my other HP laptop regular win 7 home version, and have been going through trying to see if maybe I changed anything and dont remember but all the files look the same. I have RW tools but not real sure how to use it or if I can use it to locate the problem file.

So something must have happened as RW was shutting down (one time I got a SBHH when shutting down, not pretty).
Try this. Open your Railworks folder and rename the Assets folder. You should get SBHH. If you do not and you see that error message again then I am pretty sure a game system file is hosed (there are several use XML). At this point I would try to verify the game cache again, but I am out of ideas after that.
If you do see an SBHH error then we know then it probably not a game system file but something in the assets folder. The problem gets harder to track down at this point. What I would do is create a completely empty route, seeing if it loads, and then start checking assets in the object filter to see which one causes the crash (start with Kuju and then RSC).
This is getting pretty deep. Hopeful someone else can suggest something simpler.

That is because I think I had the same error way back when. I just can't remember what caused it (I was most likely messing around with my route files).

No luck so far. Would I be able to uninstall all assets and then try? If I had altered something it would be something I downloaded from RWA and not the main files from the game.

I don't see that you tried uninstalling then reinstalling the Steam client. Save your "steapapps" folder, uninstall Steam, reinstall it clean, then paste that folder back over.
Most "unofficial" add on's are gone anyways with the RW reinstall. As well as any modifications you have (had) done to RW, like sounds, smoke, etc.
Oh, and go to Windows Update, let it scan your PC and it will recommend any updates you are lacking.
