UKTS Freeware Textures issue

Unread postby emdsd90mac » Sat Dec 03, 2011 10:07 pm

Hi all. I have just recently re-installed TS2012 and I installed the freeware textures from UKTS. They don't show up and I have checked the box in the object filter list. Any thoughts?

You have to add it to the "RoutProperties.xml" file.

I had to modify the RoutProperties.xml file with RWtools.
Change the following values under the TerrainBlueprint section:
Provider - UKTS_FP
Product - Terrain_Textures
BlueprintID - TextureSets\Complete_v1.xml
Then saved .xml file
Then I clicked Clear Cache under Tools & Docs tab before loading up RW3 completely

After modifying the TerrainBlueprint section it should look like this

This worked for me hope it does the same for you.

Ok all of you out there that are waaaaaaaaay smarter than I with our ever so awesome sim, I have another question in regards to this freeware pack. How do we overcome the "route already started" issue. What I mean is, I have already started a route using the default Kuju textures. I installed and modified (after backing up of course) the route properties.xml file as mentioned in one of the threads. Cleared the cache and launched the route only to find myself sitting in the middle of what appears to be a winter wonderland. The new textures will be wonderful added asset to my route, but I would like to know how to get all of the old textures back and still be able to utilize the UKTS pack as well. Any thoughts?

I think you will need to add the textures one by one to your route's textures.bin.

If you haven't already please read through my series of posts on adding textures to a route.

I did figure out how to overcome this "winter wonderland" appearance however, the change to the Texture.bin file that my RouterProperties.xml file refers to has done some strange things to the rest of the routes in the game. For instance, Barstow to San B, at the San B end of the route, one terrain tile is raised 500 to 1000 meters. Only one tile. Fort Kent is the same way as is one of the British routes. I haven't checked the rest, but I am willing to bet that every route will have one. I can't figure out how modifying the Texture.bin file would effect the DEM for one tile. I can go and fix it without any issues that I know of yet, but I find it strange all the way around.
