Leveling tool problems

In the edit mode on a route you are building, let's say you want to get rid of a hill or mountain, or level off some rough ground. You first select the "paint brush" icon and then the leveling tool thingeee.

After selecting the range you want the effect to take place, you then click on a piece of ground you want to use as a reference for leveling out a hill or build-up a valley. And by continuing holding down your left mouse key, you then move around to produce the leveling you want.

But...

In my case, with the new RW3, clicking on level ground produces a huge gigantic hole!!!!

Anybody else having this problem? !DUH!

ON EDIT: Oh, I see the the height tool in clicked on! Unclicking it returns leveling to normal, but...The height tool, when activated, should produce an increase in height by the selected value, not deep chasms... !*don-know!*

I'm pretty new to this so I''ll just ask: you know the leveling tool can be set to level things at any level you want, right?

The ground leveling tool works only for the ground, each object has it's own leveling tool which is opened by double clicking on the object opening a flyout on the right side where you can find the adjustment. For example viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3533

OK, thanks. I will have to look into it. I have made lakes and water containers myself, but not the way your link seemingly does it.

Somebody at Railworks needs to take a good course in technical writing, so that us minions can understand what they are trying to tell us, as well as give far more detailed information then what is given.

But then, I think they have a very small staff...

I am now playing the game "Arcania." WOW! If only we can produce scenery like that, and at the same time, have the video card handle it with ease. But then, these game companies, such as Bethesda, who produced the marvelous game, "Oblivion," most probably have a far greater staff then Railworks can afford...

Jeez, I didn't know about that! Thanks! (And in case anybody else didn't know pressing "J" with an object selected will "level" the object to ground level. Or whatever the object thinks ground level might be. OK, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but when it DOES work it's very handy.
