Coupling...

This has probably been asked somewhere, but I'm not up to hunting for it.

In some scenarios, I have a problem where the couplers don't work. I've tried the 'Ctrl+Shift+C', and that doesn't work either. It's either that the couplers come together and just don't latch or the train will pass a bit of the way into the car being coupled then derail.

I'm a little stumped on this...I'd like to finish the runs, but can't on some of them. I even tried to save, then restart...No go.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Jim

Some scenarios/ routes are just bugged. I have gotten into the habit of clearing the blueprint cache (tools and docs tab on the launch screen, BEFORE you start Railworks) That usually will fix most graphics anomalies. Also you can try starting the route, go into Edit, then just save and exit. Don't even need to make changes. Just save and exit.

Ok, I'll give that a try see....I always clear the Blueprint cache when I install anything...thanks for the idea, I'll let you know how I make out with it.

When this happens to me, I just save and quit RW. I start RW again, and continue the scenario and coupling works again.

Ah well....not so much here. Not a biggie, I'll continue on as it is....maybe I need to restart the scenario from scratch again and see how it goes. Still on the learning curve.

Thanks

Jim

I've been running the 'Call of Duty' scenario on castle rock. For some reason I can't get my F units to couple up to the coaches. I'm reversing nice and gently and then they are just bouncing off.

I've tried clearing blue prints, closing rw and then restarting, all to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem?

The front and rear pivot points on the F7 engines is not right. I change these to 8 and -8 in the engine bin file and that solves the coupling problem. Unfortunately, this will be over written every time that RW updates.

Thanks. I'll give that a go tomorrow. Cheers

Has this info been passed to the RW people so they could fix it offically?

I don't know. Have other people been having the same problem with that scenario and with coupling the F7's in general? Have you had the same issue?

What is the best way to edit the bin file (this is not something I've done before)?

You can use RW_Tools which is donation ware that can be obtained here:

http://www.rstools.info/rw_tools.html

RW_Tools is almost a must have for anyone using RailWorks. It performs many, many functions beyond editing bin files.

Thanks. I managed to edit it as you suggested and changed the pivot point to -8 and 8 and it worked.
