NEC Update?????

Hi! There has been a lot said as to what should be, or could be included in a NEC update. But does anyone know for sure that an update is actually being worked on, that, let say, would be available in the next week or so? I'm contemplating on make substantial track changes to make freight operation more viable for personal use, but do not want to clone the route until the standard scenario problems have been updated. Thanks for any real insight.
