Hagen-Siegen Route Problem

Unread postby WhiteKnight77 » Sat Jul 02, 2011 9:12 pm

I picked up the German Railroads Rhine-Ruhr City Trains from Steam the other night. Trying the First Run scenario, I can make it out of the Hagen Station but when I get within 1KM of the next station down the line, my train stops by itself. Has anyone else seen this problem or know of a fix to allow me to reach the station? There is a red light at the station and I haven't passed it so I am at odds to know what is happening. I try to release the emergency brakes, but nothing happens. I can quite the scenario and I get the emergency brake use error.

I haven't tried any other of the scenarios that came with this piece of DLC yet as I like to work them in order so to speak so I do not know if there are other problems with them either.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like probably the Automatic Warning System (AWS) kicked in, and you didn't respond to it in time, therefor it brings your train to a full stop.
When this happens, you'll have to wait-it-out until the train comes to a full stop, then it may take a moment before you can control the train again.
This AWS in RailWorks is to add a bit more "realism" for some routes and when driving trains, as in "real-life" you'd probably have to deal with an AWS system on some routes/trains.

Some routes have the AWS at some places along the way. So, when in-cab view you may hear a strange buzzer/alarm type noise (unfortunately you can't hear this alarm when in other views outside the cab-view), plus on the main F4 Driver's HUD you'll see like an orange/yellow type light indicator come on. You only have a few seconds to respond to it (otherwise the AWS thinks you're "sleeping or dead" and brings the train to a full stop as a safety precaution) by either clicking on the AWS warning button on the HUD, or I believe by pressing Q on your keyboard.

Or, if you choose to drive train using the "Simple Controls" method from the main-menu options, then you don't get the AWS.

Cheers! :)

Thanks for the reply. I believe you are right. I tried a different scenario last night and ran into the same problem and yes, I got stopped again. I guess I will need to use the advanced controls to control the train. I dabbled with them for the SW1500 so have an idea of how they work on that one. Time to experiment.

I like to drive out of the cab. I like looking at the train as well as the scenery, so the AWS catches me all the time on British and other Euro routes. So drive in cab, and listen for a "buzz" when the AWS triggers. North American stuff, in this sim and real life, doesn't seem to have it.

I made a beta-script that will give a alarm-ring type sound when the AWS comes on, and it works for external views too.

The script works perfectly for me, but, so far I haven't had much feedback or interest about it from other Users.

If you're interested to give it a try, you can see the info about it over here:

Yeah, I like to drive in and outside of the cab as I like taking screens on occasion. Don, I would like to try your little script out and will check it out, thanks.

Yes, I'm gonna try that out as well. I guess I get claustrophobic (sp) in cab after a while. I just like to "fly" around with the free cam. Take some screen shots. !*salute*!
