TSC Randomly No Audio

Been a minute since I posted on here but as of yesterday morning I launched TSC for the first time in roughly a week. No sound whatsoever. Seems to be isolated to just TSC since a different game launched with audio and watching youtube on my web browser was normal. Already tried verifying the files via Steam twice and has not seemed to fix it. Anyone else having this issue too or a possible solution?

No problems here and running game as I write this. Have you checked your audio settings in the game to make sure nothing has gone awry.

I sure have. Menu music engaged and both master and ambient up at max and near max respectively.

Try the Verify local files feature in the Steam client.

What is your output device? Desktop monitor speakers, laptop speakers, Bluetooth speakers, or external speakers plugged into the audio jack?

That's what I did and didn't work.

"Randomly" means it does work, but not all the time?

A while ago there was a big similar (but not randomly) thing going on. Many people had audio issues playing the TSC game.

There must be a thread about it in these forums.

I think the culprit was an antivirus driver. Is unlikely (because these normally get updated automatically) but perhaps your audio issue is related to this.

Normally all software / setting related issues are fixed by deleting Steam , deleting all of TSC and reinstalling everything. I do that several times a year, easy peasy. Just a few clicks, go for coffee, and problem solved !!*ok*!!

My computer is three and a half years old and I have never ever deleted Steam or TSC? Why on Earth would you want to do that unless you are running a vanilla unmodified version of TS? I'm running Steam/TS on a separate drive and that's the only thing on there. Both my Assets and Content folder are backed up to another separate drive once a month.

I do that after fiddling (like installing non-steam stuff, which always has issues, so I have to remove it again). And also before + after I visit certain areas in the world for which I have to wipe my system.

Works perfectly. Steam has that covered very well. A few clicks , a cup of coffee, and you have a fresh install.

I say randomly because it was out of the blue. Worked fine like normal about a week prior and all the sudden no audio. I do have Norton as my antivirus software, it and TSC have co existed on the few pcs I've been through the last 6-7 years with no issues at all. I'm using Windows 11 which has the built in Microsoft Defender so I might disable Norton, retry the file verify and see if that helps.

What is the latest update of TSC from DTG? I have noticed hiccups when the TSC menu displays upon loading TSC, that I did not have two weeks ago. Have defragged and cleared all temp files. Hiccups still there. Possible audio glitch with update if indeed there has been one??

Or switch back to an older System Restore point (better make a backup first)

I don't think DTG has released ANYTHING in a long time. The last few DLCs were all from their third party partners.

Update: Norton uninstalled and audio is back to normal.
