Hello. The pc runs fine the game starts up and runs fine until workshop starts. Aside from that my pc does not restart on its own.. I will be playing the sim. Prompt comes up saying " Downloading Workshop files " appears which causes the sim to freeze and then the pc restarts. Once again my pc runs fine until that I play the game and workshop starts downloading. Sent a message to Steam. They said it's a PC problem. Any suggestions? !*hp*! **!!bang!!** !**conf**! !*don-know!*

I would just delete Steam and TSC and begin with a fresh install with no DLC and then install the DLC step by step.

Reinstalling TSC most likely will not solve the problem if you have a corrupted workshop. Review your latest workshop downloads prior to when this started and remove them and unsubscribe to them. You may want to make note of them in order to resubscribe. If TSC will not start you can unsubscribe to them through your profile. Profile/Workshop Items/Subscribed Items. The other option is to make a list, unsubscribe to all then install one at a time and test. You must unsubscribe to them or you will get into a reinstall loop and crash. Always to test each one after install and or modification. It is typical of DTG to blame the PC if they can't zero in on the exact problem.

To the best of my knowledge, AmericanSteam's solution is the best for workshop problems.

Well . . . that was part of my simple solution too :-)

There is a difference between DLC and workshop. DLC is everything downloaded, Workshop is specific. Reinstalling TSC fill not solve a corrupted workshop.

Uninstalled and re installed Steam and TSC2024 as directed. Game runs fine until Workshop opens up. Also something new. Prompt pops up after restart saying "ini service fail: Specified method is not supported"

Deleting Steam and DLC means deleting everything in my speak. Simply delete it all, reboot clean reboot install step by step But hey, any solution that works is a good solution !

All very well but a hammer to crack an egg - how large is the OP's installation - he could easily have 400gb+ of assets installed - suggesting a simple delete and reinstall is a bit casual without further information.

Still likely to be to do with the Workshop.

Go into Workshop and unsubscribe from all items subscribed. Do not resubscribe until you have tested the sim.

If that doesn't work isolate the routes that you have subscribed Workshop scenarios to, also any Workshop routes you have subscribed to. You can do this simply by setting up a temporary folder in Railworks\Content\Routes and dragging the routes you need to isolate in there. You don't need to delete those and if the sim works you can return them one by one to the Routes folder to see if you can find one at fault.

TBH I would simplify it further by just testing the sim with one route, perhaps one default that you never use and won't have any additional scenarios in.

Try the above and come back before unistalling and reinstalling...

The problem here is deleting all of TSC may not solve the issue and the possibility of losing any work is a possibility. If workshop is corrupted it will reinstall corrupted workshop. You must UNSUBSCRIBE to all workshop first. I would suggest to do the least invasive option first before I do the nuclear option.

I got a reply from Steam. I was told submit copies of crash logs some other logs etc. Update motherboard drivers did that . Flash my Bios !Soundcard drivers? Blah blah. Deleted everything in workshop . I deleted ALL routes. Restarted TSC. With routes deleted .ALL workshop files deleted. Clicked Workshop .TSC froze .PC restarted. I uninstalled Steam and will reinstall it later. This has to be a problem with Steam/TSC. Everyone .Thanks for your help. I'll keep you posted. *!!thnx!!* !*salute*!

Just out of interest, where are you clicking on Workshop. Is it in sim or on the Steam TSC front page?

Also - does the sim run if you don't have anything to do with Workshop? If so, you are at least part way there - you don't need to use Workshop!

The reason I ask that is that I tend to download Workshop items then physically add them to the sim myself (works with all except the very old Workshop files).

Workshop files are downloaded to;

Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\24010

You can download workshop items without being in sim and they will appear within 24010 (see photos below)

Image

Open one of the downloaded files and you will see a .Zip file

Image

Which you can open in situ to obtain a folder (in this case a scenario) which can be dragged into you Railworks\Content\Routes folder...

Then, once more without going into the sim, you can return to the Workshop and unsubscribe from the file/s

Did you unsubscribe from all workshop first?
