Clinchfield Problem

Unread postby railduffer » Mon May 11, 2020 11:00 am

I purchased and installed the Clinchfield Route a few days ago. Either the route or I have problems. The most aggravating thing I have found is missing speed limit signs. In many spots I have found now speed limits change without warning. Its hard to achieve a score that way.
There are a couple of spots where bridge supports on rail bridges are not placed correctly, and they poke up through the track. In one scenario there is a truck coming down the adjacent road sideways.
It seems that either the route was released too early, without sufficient testing, or it did not download to my program correctly.
Has anyone else had the same problem?
I love the route as it models one of the greatest railroads in the East with history. The scenery and feeling of that part of the country is wonderful.

I've seen the same issues so it's probably the route.

It is the route. In the case of the bridge support just go into world editor click on the object and the gizmo thingy will appear and just lower it until it's in the right place. The gravel road on the track just highlight it and then delete it. I didn't try to do anything in the one spot where the traffic is all stopped on the tracks yet. If you want to get the speed limit thing fixed I think you might have to write a ticket up for DTG so they know to do a update.

I'm sure i can fix most of the route problems myself, but that is not the point. I have spent money for a route that is out on the marketplace, and I assumed it would be in working order. The route is not the only problem. For instance in Scenario 6 (Efficient Haulage Part 1) the goal is to pickup cars from loading points along the route. There are no cars at these loading points to pick up. I have not tried Scenario 7. It appears to me that a GREAT route was put on the market too soon.
I have filled out a ticket for Dovetail, and have not heard back yet.

Perfection is a goal always hoped for and to be admired but rarely achieved.

Even the best of routes have issues, but will DTG make the effort to actually fix them once they are called to their attention? We will wait and see. Film at 11.

If not, it will be up to one of us to create a "patch" for the route and post it on here. But let's see what, if anything, DTG does first.

After spending 40 bucks. i should not have to go in and fix stuff such as a bridge support going through a bridge. like how do you miss that?

Not everyone has the knowledge/expertise to fix these sort of problems. Hopefully a fix will be issued soon. I enjoy the route very much. I'm from southern WV and lived just north of Johnson City TN, in sight of the CSX/former Clinchfield tracks, for over 20 years. If I have an issue with the route, it's the trees. Not very accurate for that area. Too bad that Erwin TN wasn't included, but that would have been a long route.

I already explained how to fix it in another thread. The amount of expertise required to fix this is near nothing. Go to that spot click on world editor. Click on the object the gizmo tool will appear. Move it down to where you want it. Exit world editor. Done.

I can fix the problems I think. I have fixed similar problems on my own route. However, I paid money for a completed route and scenarios that came with it (some of which were incomplete).
I have sent three tickets to Dovetail since discovering the problems. I have only received computer generated responses saying they will get back to me. I have not even heard a response that ... we are working on it. I am very disappointed at this time.
