When you get to Gold Hill Quarry Siding 2 with 4 wagons full of coal the instructions are Pick Up Bulk From Gold Hill Quarry Unloading @ Gold Hill Quarry Siding 2 what does this mean? there is nothing to pick up. Some people on Steam and myself included thought that you had to empty the coal wagons. As you can see in the screenshot I have followed all the instructions for the previous sidings.

As you can see in this screenshot after emptying the coal wagons you don't get the next instruction as shown on the left.

As a side note to this scenario, is there an improvement to the train brakes for the GP38-2? Sad when the dynamics stop better than the train brakes. 2 GP38-2s and 4 loaded coal cars take forever to stop. It seems as if the brake pipe flow rate is too slow.
This scenario can not be completed as written. As I look at this scenario the logical thing is to drop the consist at Rockwell siding and do the runaround (the siding is long enough) then push the entire consist to Gold Hill Quarry and unload the coal hoppers at Gold Hill Quarry unloading. After unloading, back the entire consist to the bulk freight loader and load the empty hoppers. The scenario is done with fewer moves and in less time and the consist is in the proper order.

Yes the brakes still don't work properly on the GP38-2 as you can tell with my minus 756 points. !*roll-laugh*!

Just tried what you said. I have already pushed the wagons to Gold Hill Quarry 2. After emptying them I back the train with the wagons at the front to load the wagons with the loader but as I do so I get an operation incomplete message and to go to the academy and end up with a cross by that instruction. I can still load the wagons though with the loader.

I wonder why no one runs these before release. I can't see an obvious solution as written. To stop and help control speed I have been setting the brakes on the hoppers.

I'm sure that someone ran it. It's one thing to know what you want to do and get it done and another thing to write instructions that someone else can understand. When we did the Lafayette Route I was the beta guy on several of the scenarios and some of them were fine and others needed the instructions clarified for me (the dummy) to get them to completion.

Here is another strange twist to this scenario. I was going to empty the coal wagons again at this siding starting from a resume as I have saved it here to get a screenshot of the academy error message and unloaded two of the four wagons when a message popped up saying something like great work now proceed to Gold Quarry Siding 1 and drop off the four coal wagons no mention of filling them up with shingle, so I went to the siding and uncoupled them and got a message saying now continue back to Rockwell and couple to the wagons there which is about 9 miles away. This is totally screwed. !*hp*!

Yeah, this scenario is a bit buggy. After cloning the scenario to swap the power because it was infuriatingly bad to operate. I ended up stuck at that point because they failed to make it a unload rule, rather they ask the player to load something where it can't be loaded.

The scenario is 130 minutes long at best, as the second half of the scenario is to retrieve those 12 cars you initially dropped off and push them to the same quarry to be loaded. Then retrieve the coal cars again and return home. However, In the grand scheme of things, there was no need to make this cut, as the consist was properly made up for shoving to the quarry.

DTG could have massively sped up and simplified the scenario by placing a caboose on the consist, flip the engine and caboose on the ends to begin, and shove to the quarry. Or place engines on either end for push pull operation. But then it wouldn't be a "challenge"

As I suggested, caboose not needed.

Fair point that the caboose is not particularly needed, but a runaround is not necessary either if the player could just shove from the origin yard or have an engine on both ends. There's enough room between the end of the track and the quarry drop point to have a single GP38 or GP40 on the loaded end.

Doing this has less moves and even less time screwing around at Rockwell.
