Random Freezing

Hey y'all,
So for some reason, a few days ago, my game has started to randomly freeze after I drive about a mile. The game just stops and I have to use task manager to quit. I have verified my cache with no luck. I have not added in anything over the past couple of days so I have no idea where this stemmed from. Thanks.

Start looking at workshop items. Since they are updated and messed with all the time they are usually the file that's corrupted causing that problem assuming everything else on your rig seems to be working OK.

I'm with Buzz. Since I removed all of my workshop items (with the exception of the Bergen line, and one other route) my Railworks install very rarely crashes.

Thanks guys, but I did a full reinstall of the game and believe to have found the culprit. However, it adds to the confusion. It only does this with a Searchlight locomotive or sound pack. I have no idea why this started happening. It seems to happen whenever I skip a notch when notching up or down. It has happened on the SD40-2 and the GEVO-12 pack. This just started happening three days ago and has never happened before this.

Interesting. Did you reinstall the Searchlight items from scratch using their installer files, or did you copy/paste the folders from your previous install into your fresh Railworks install?

I have reinstalled it all by scratch.

I'm pretty vexed by this as I've been developing scenarios for the SS SD40-2 all week, and have definitely been doing some throttle swiping. No new instability or crashes showing up on my end. Has there been a new Windows update this week perhaps? Maybe a sound or video driver update or new version that pushed out? You could check your video card driver history and try reverting to a previous version if there has been a recent update.

None of my drivers appear to have updated recently and my computer hasn't had an update in a while either. It just updated tonight and nothing changed. I'm just stumped at this point.

Is it the SD40-2/EMD 645 enhancement pack, or the SD40-2 locomotive DLC that you've experienced the issue with?

I experience this when running the UP SD40 pack, NS SD40 pack, GEVO-12 soundpack, and RRMods GP40. So pretty much every locomotive that Searchlight put scripting and sound on.

When you uninstalled did you use the supplied uninstaller? Did you delete all folders for the loco in Railworks? Did you add any reskins and may have made errors in moving folders? These reflect some of the errors I have made in the past that have caused issues. It does sound like a corrupted file.

I did use the supplied uninstallers, but I then just did a full reinstall of the game itself. I'm on a completely new and clean install, with no results.

I'm sure it's not the game. It's some asset or content. When I had a problem like this I made a new content folder that only had one route in it to see if it ran OK. Then I did the same thing with only the Kuju default assets to see if it ran OK so I could determine where the problem was.

Right Buzz. I've been able to narrow it down. It is anything with Searchlight scripting in it. Which is strange, because they all were working last week. No matter what, once I throttle swipe, the game freezes.

Well I still can't seem to shake the issue. My computer has updated, my game has been cleanly installed and DTG has been contacted and surprise, they have been zero help as usual. At this point the game cannot be played and I have hit a brick wall when it comes to ideas. Anyone have any suggestions?
