i am still working on my route. I enjoy doing this, but when I first open the route for editing it is almost dark. It seems as if the clock is set to dusk. When I press the yellow pointer on the bottom left I go to Free Roam and everything turns light as if mid day. I think this is the time I set for Free Roam. How can I set the program to mid day when i first open the Route Editor?

Say you go find your route after clicking on the free roam tab. Before you click the start button. What time does the clock say?

It could be that you are actually below the surface of your terrain. I've found this happens when you import terrain characteristics.

Use Ctrl+Shift+Home to get to the ground level.

The second solution, when this happens exit out using the orange arrow bottom right of the page then go back into the world editor using Esc key. Everything should be normal.

First of all you need to be in the Scenario Editor to change time of day. The normal setup is a 24 hour clock, change your time to suit a daylight time making sure you press Enter to register the change and save the scenario(F-2). Click the Play button to see if that changes the situation. Then let us know if you corrected the problem. Good Luck.
