FPS drop and is wonky on all routes

Unread postby biddydog9000 » Sat Jun 15, 2019 9:12 pm

So recently the fps has been off lately. Example Morristown & Coast line 60 originally now mix of 45-58 FPS. note I turned off the cab light in the engine and I contacted dovetail. Dovetail said "
Your DxDiag notes your running the game at 1440p which is a demanding resolution your GTX 1060 3GB is not suitable for.

Accordingly, you'd need to lower your ingame settings or render scaling to get your target frame rate.

Previously you may have been running the game at 1080p and the update possibly with Geforce Experience has now changed this to match your monitor". Also, i asked should i changed the resolution in game and they said "
You can either do so ingame or via the Nvidia control panel.

The game doesn't really need to run above 30FPS due to the gameplay so you may wish to choose graphical detail over frame rate".

Anyone know if this fixable, and what settings I got to use in the control panel.

Make sure that your game is running off off your 1060. Check the settings in NVIDIA control panel. If it played better before check that your system temperatures are okay. It might be time to do a bit of housecleaning.

What settings in the NVIDIA control panel do I look at?

All of them.

In the Nvidia Control Panel make sure that the settings that have an application controlled option are set to application controlled.

Reading this may help. viewtopic.php?f=33&t=12713

I have noted on a few occasions while updating NVIDIA drivers it will change settings and they must be reconfigured.

Open NVIDIA control panel. Open Manage 3D settings open Program Settings tab. Under select a program to customize. Scroll down to see if you see a line that ends with either Railworks 64.exe and Railworks.exe. If both are there then this is okay. If not go to the Add tab and add both or the missing one. Hit the Add button after each entry.
Please report back with your efforts.
If running Windows 10, open settings, Display, scroll down to Graphics Settings it will be at the bottom of the page, Choose an app to set preference set to classic app. Select Browse, navigate to your Railworks folder and add Railworks64.exe and Railworks.exe This will set any apps to automatically use your graphics card.
