64-bit editor acting up again?

Unread postby gwgardner » Mon Apr 08, 2019 10:55 am

After the recent 64-bit editor update, I was hopeful, but am now getting save errors and sometimes opening errors, every time I try to edit a scenario. Anyone else experiencing this?

And does anyone know if there has been any comment from DTG about continuing work on the 64-bit editor?

Follow this guide. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/ ... 465303891I do this both before and after an editing session.

Didn't solve the problem, but thanks for the suggestion.

I reported the problem to DTG, got a canned response about sending in a dxdiag log.

Can't run my route on 32-bit. Can't run it on 64-bit if I populate the yards. Don't want to run it without populated yards because I want 'realistic' freeroam operations.

I deliberately built a very dense route, especially after we found out that TS was going to 64-bit. So I'll put my route aside for a while until DTG comes out with some 64-bit fixes. It will take time. I do believe they will make changes eventually, perhaps in my lifetime.

Just a rehash, are you sure that TS is running on your discrete graphics card? You are in the minority of people with these issues. Most can use the 32 bit and 64 bit editor without any major issues, only an occasional glitch in 64 bit. It may be something in your system configuration causing this. Can you post your system specs please? CPU, GPU and memory, desktop or laptop.

Definitely running on the Nvidia 1060. MSI Apache Pro laptop, I7 quad, 16 gig memory. Everything TS runs fine on 64-bit, until I start heavily populating the route with cars and engines. I limit it to BLE cars and engines, GreatNortherner's 40ft cars, and a couple of Britkit engines - all of which I've run before extensively. Once the memory load gets well up over 3 gig, I get the CTDs. Definitely using 64-bit.

I don't do scenarios. Never enjoyed them much. I like to freeroam, with the route populated to look somewhat realistic. So playing with empty yards ruins the fun.

Here's my load creating a new, empty, freeroam scenario at route origin. Everything running fine.

Here's after randomly adding some cars and engines, up to 4.1 gig mem usage. Everything going fine, but when I save it, get the TS dump. Access violation.

How much total system memory are you using when this happens? Check with task manager.
