How to merge 2 vewrsions of the one route?

Sorry if this is a bit simple, but I am looking for pointers on whether it is possible to merge 2 versions of the one route. I have several versions of Tori's wonderful COA, including B24's fantastic logging extension rework from some years back (Bumbleberry Creek) What I would like to do, now I have some time on my hands (was made redundant a year ago and even with a degree and 35+ years experience, it is just not happening) so I thought I might tinker to keep my sanity. What I would like to do is merge the Bumbleberry Creek version, with the last official version (I have a version which has trackage all the way to Hinton) and then sit and add some scenery. No promises, as I have not ever delved into thsi area, but there are numerous tutorials, so I thought why not.

Any thoughts on whether this can be done and how?

Many thanks

!*cheers*!

I think the trickiest part is finding whether the two routes have the same origin coordinates. Everything in route building is based on the origin coordinates of the route. Most, if not all, objects are offset from that origin point. So, both routes would have to have the same origin coordinates.

I believe this is the line you will be looking for within each route version within the Route Properties.xml The path: Railworks\Content\Routes\<YourRouteName>\RouteProperties.xml

Image

The key is the coordinates within the <sMapCoords> and the </sMapCoords> tags of the code, notice the Easting and the Northing references. Easting is Longitude and Northing is Latitude.

I hope that gets you started.

Hi,

When it is not quite so hot (it cracked 42+ here yesterday and up to 49 a bit north of here; that's C *!sad!* ) and I can spend a bit of time on the pc (that room isnt air conditioned) I am going to have a look at just copying the tiles I want from one route to another. They are after all the same route, just one has had some work done on the narrow gauge logging section that is not so detailed on the other. Not sure how it is going to turn out, but nothing ventured, nothing gained and B24 has done an excellent job on the reworked logging section.

!*cheers*!

Can anyone point me to where the Bumbelberry route can be downloaded? I don't see it in this library, and have Googled it extensively on several occasions but failed to come up with anything.

I appreciate it is a few years old and might be a hassle to round up all the required assets, but is it available anywhere?

Thanks

Chris

I don't get that, this is a forum for railroading and digital railroading, its more like a model railroad club in real scale. So we all come to the meeting, to share what we know and love so everyone can enjoy, and people are private messaging answers to questions. Its like, "I'll tell you in private cause I don't want others to know." What is it that's so secret? Shakes my head. !*hp*!

Sometimes people are sharing things for private use only. Stuff that the death star would not approve of handing around. I don't think anyone means anything by it.

I think that's jumping the gun a bit. For the record, it was nothing nefarious or under the counter, and also for the record, one of those who PM'd me sent his own links and asked me not to share as he had limited bandwidth, which I respect.

I didn't think a quick thank you could stir up such emotion!
