Mojave Desert Railroading ... no tracks

Unread postby paulcbenoit » Wed Jun 20, 2018 4:13 pm

I’m having a fun day!!!

This route installed fine and loads leaving 4 scenarios in Free Roam. They all load up fine, but there are no tracks. Oooops! The scenery looks fine .. i.e. trona ... etc... just no tracks.

Searched. Found another with the problem but no resolution I could understand. There was talk of “OTTO.bin” files being wrong ... searched but did not find any.

TS18.

Would very much appreciate help with this issue. I used to live in Apple Valley, CA. And would see the Lucerne Valley daily local to the M<itsubishi Cement plant in Cushenbury .... the track plan looks fine and I would really like top run this sub. Same with Trona ... visited Searles lake many times to checkout the operations there.

Thanks for your help and time

Forget this route and use “Cajon Pass Alpha” it’s better.....IMHO

^ What he said x100. If you have the prerequisite payware routes, this route is the ONLY way to experience Cajon and the surrounding area in Railworks.

In answer to your question, the tracks in Mojave Desert Railroading route were some custom ones, or modified ones by Otto himself, and if I recall correctly were included with another of his routes.

Even though I have Mojave Cajon running I would love the desert Railroading to work, specifically for the trona route, which is very detailed and not modeled (not complaining mind you) on either Tehachapi or M-C. The routes in those end in a P for portal.

I’m trying to learn the file structure of TS to understand what you might have and where that’s different than mine. I guess it’s obviously something with me having an incorrect track resource pointed to or used by the route .....Do you know if a route folder contains all the resources needed to run the route or are some common resources shared among the routes? Most likely the latter I would guess. Can the specific track resources for a route be identified so we could compare and I might be able to obtain the correct trackage resources which would allow me to have tracks? If I used the build function to edit the route might it give me the details and alternatives so I might make a fix. I’m learning as fast as I can!!!!!

Thanks for your help and happy Friday!!

You’re probably going to want to find RWTools and learn how to use that and figure out what you are missing for the “OLD” Otto route. http://www.rstools.info/downloads.html

Then get a copy of RWInfo.... https://www.10a.ch/en/rwinfo..

And then I’d say ask real politely if Tomcat would consider adding the Trona RR to his route beyond the portal for some future version... don’t mean he’ll do it right away as he’s deeeep into the Powder River Route right now, but you can ask.

thank you so much for the offer … I realize Otto has passed away (RIP Otto) and his sites are no longer "up". I would love to take you up on your offer, but am not clear what exactly I need. If you have a place I could "browse" that would be great. Meanwhile I need to get my act together and try to understand what I am trying to do now that Tehachapi and Cajon-Mojave work ….. I know I would like to drive the Trona sub from Mojave …. but need to see what I need.

I am up to my eyeballs in files. There was a main OTTO file with the precursor (?) to the Desert Railroading route I'm struggling with, if I could get a copy of Putnam-bsb-mojave-trona route.

I found this via google:

this web site is for you if you are interested in railway simulations. We offer a library of downloadable files, forums to exchanges messages, news and more. ... http://www.otto-wipfel.co.uk/downloads- ... bsb-mojave .... My West Colton - BSB - Mohave - Trona version of Bill Putnam's route ..

Sorry I'm all over the place. Sounds like those above would be a start

Thanks again .... and I'll keep researching what I need to fix the current "no track" issue.

cheers

I have also had this problem and if I remember right, the trackrules were missing or something.

I've tried to gather some of Ottos other routes here viewtopic.php?f=30&t=18048&p=231464#p231464 but with only low success *!sad!*
