Support for Steam Workshop?

Unread postby OldProf » Tue Feb 27, 2018 1:18 pm

Having written several switching scenarios for the new and great B&LE route, I of course decided to upload them to Steam Workshop. So, I launched TS, opened the Build>Publish page and selected one of my scenarios. The "Ready to Publish! Click Next to Continue message popped up immediately. Of course, there is no Next button, so I proceeded to choose the correct screenshot, enter my description, select the correct entries for Visibility, Country, and Engine Type, check the I Agree box, and click the Publish button.

After a few seconds of whirling whirligig the progress meter popped up and counted up to 67% before being replaced by a Failed to Upload box with a nifty little OK button around where its navel would be. "OK"? -- not in the least, especially since I then had to open Steam Workshop and clean out the empty upload.

Contacting Steam Support seemed the next logical procedure, but no possibility of receiving Steam Workshop support exists there.

What I would like to know is whether any RWA member has discovered a way of reporting a problem with uploading to the Workshop. I'm not asking for a rash of rants, just a simple response to this simple question, please.

By the way, one of the several scenarios I've created for the B&LE did upload successfully -- but only one.

Thanks

Hi Tom,

I've never uploaded anything to the workshop myself, but I do know that Tuesdays tend to be very flaky for the workshop because it's the day of the week that Steam does most of its regular maintenance. I know it's not really an answer, but it might be worth waiting and trying again a little bit later (or even tomorrow.) But there might be other more specific causes for this that I'm not aware of, so hopefully someone else can chime in.

Tom,
I have uploaded 196 times to workshop and can tell you this: Before uploading, Hit the Clear the Cache button in settings. The will force TS to restart. Then go back in to proceed with your upload. If you cannot see the image you chose to illustrate your scenario, clear the cache again. As far as Workshop Support is concerned - only to email them about the broken sort functionality.

Thanks for these tips, Minerman, I'll take notes and give them a try. One thing I can say in Workshop's favor is that for a while now it's been possible to select a screen shot from my entire library instead of just the few that used to be available. I no longer have to keep moving ordinary everyday screenshots from the folder Steam reserves for them to sub-folders in order to find what I really want. I haven't been able to find any Steam email address of web site that accepts questions about the Workshop, by the way.
