Missing Blueprints.pak from Colton & Northern

Hi Guys,

I don't know how or when this happened, but my Blueprints.pak file is missing from my Colton & Northern Route. I tried to run a scenario yesterday and I got the ever informative "something bad happened" message box!

I tried reinstalling the route, but the file is still missing. How can I fix this?

Thanks
Don.

Don't worry about it; it's a data cache that the game generates on it's own, it's not anything important.

Oh, ok.

I tried to run an activity after I reinstalled and everything was fine. So I ran an activity that I installed the other day, and it crashed. This time it told me that it was missing some assets and had broken consists. So that activity must be what caused the problem. Although the other day I just got a beep and a message box. Tonight I got the descriptive error.

So, I guess I'm ok. I'll figure out what's up with that activity later.

Thanks
Don

If you downloaded the add on thru Steam, verify the game files. Open Steam and choose Libraries, right click on Railworks, choose Properties> Local Files> verify. Also, on the RW launch screen, under Tools and Docs, clear the blueprint cache. Is this "activity" one of the scenarios that came with the route?

Failing all of that, try and contact Rich Garber: http://www.allaboardrails.com/ he designed the route.

Thanks for the info. I should have posted more details but it was getting late.

The activity is Richard Carter's Westin Yard Work. In reviewing the readme this morning, it requires Michael Stephan's FLC SW1200 locomotive but I thought I had that installed. Probably don't.

Thanks
Don

The original file for the SW1200 is from Brit Kits just in case you don't know.

Hi Buzz,

Thanks. Yeah I figured out that I downloaded it and never installed it. I guess I'll work on that.

Does anyone know if "Michael Stephan's FLC SW1200 locomotive" is a repaint? I have to look for that. First run through the files section here at RWA turned up nothing.

Thanks
Don

I believe that the FLC SW1200 used in this scenario is just the Britkit SW1200 and not a repaint. I think Michael did a CBQ SW1200 repaint.

Ok. The plot thickens....

I DID have Dick Cowen's SW1200 installed! When I installed the scenario, I MAY have used the wrong installer. Rick (or Rich?) Carter has two folders, one for Rail Sim one for RailWorks, and an installer in the root folder! I reinstalled the scenario from the RW folder... no change.

Another interesting note.... the Scenario does not appear in the Package Manager. That's not right, right?

Thanks,
Don

It doesn't show up in the package manager becuase it's not installed as an .rwp file. It is installed using AssetSetUp.exe.

Ok, good to know.

So if I wanted to remove it, I would have to find the files manually?

Thanks
Don

As far as I know, that's the only way to uninstall assets loaded through the an .exe. If there's an easier way, I'd sure like to know it. !*don-know!*

No, that's the only way. Given how easy it is to make a package, I have no idea why anyone distributes stuff with that installer exe anymore...

Don't delete the original zip/whatever before you want to uninstall; you can extract it somewhere else so you can see exactly what it contains, and then you can compare file trees with your actual install to check what you have to remove.

That's the way I've been doing it, sometimes it's a real pita to get it all sorted out.
