Help making a logo

Unread postby USARailfan » Mon Oct 09, 2017 7:14 pm

I need help. (What else is new? !*roll-laugh*! ) I made a post a while back about removing logos, now I want to replace an existing logo with my own, how would one go about doing this?

Need more info. Was the original logo on the hood of the diesel or in a separate transparency? If it was on the loco hood, create your new logo with transparent background. You can then paste it into a new layer and resize to fit. Be sure to flatten the layers before you past the new dds image over the original.

The decal is a little more difficult to edit but not impossible. Save a copy of the original decal file as a backup (important). Open the tgpcx file with RSBIN Tool. You can then export a dds file with the same file name. I use DXTBmp to open the dds file. You will see an image and an alpha transparency. DXTBMP will let you edit either file from a menu selection.

Send the alpha transparency file to your graphics editing program. I use Photoshop. To place your own logo, you will need to place a black square over the existing logo. Then you can place your logo, resized it and save it in BMP format. Going back to DXTBMP, you use the "Refresh Alpha" command. You should see your edited file in the upper right window.

You might need one more step to properly use the new alpha. DXTBMP has a command called "Create Alpha Template." This creates a new "window" for your logo to display through. Save your edited work as the same dds file name you used before. Open the dds file in RSBIN Tool and export it as the original tgpcx file you edited. The new logo should show up on your model now.

Note that the SD75 is not an easy reskin. That's one reason you don't see a lot of models on RWA. Your edits may take some patience and multiple edits to work properly. Good luck.
