Missing .fx file:

Help!

I was working on a route and the sim crashed. When I tried to restart, nothing happened. Just a black screen. Got a message box that says the program couldn't find "TrainBasicObjectDefuse.fx" , along with a message "File.Dxcommon\cHcEffectMaterialDx.cpp" Lin 1181.

I've re-downloaded steam (a couple of times) & still no joy. I've looked for an answer on this forum and google but haven't been able to get an fix. Where can I get these files and how do I get them loaded?

Thanks,

Dave

I did a search for both of these and couldn't find either one of them. I'll try a search outside of Steam but this is puzzling.

Do a search online for what it might be, apparently other people in the last couple of years have had similar problems that might have been caused by their video cards / graphics, etc, etc.

Try installing DX9 again from your Railworks/Install folder. See if that helps.

Thanks all,

I've reinstalled the "Railworks" folder from Steam. Reinstalled my Video card drivers, rebooted the system.

After all that TS 2017 finally loaded. EUREKA!

I don''t know what it was, but it sees so work now.

" I don''t know what it was, but it sees so work now." Spoke to soon! Worked once! Then would not load at all. No notices to why. Messed with it all afternoon yesterday. Ended up this morning by restoring the computer to an earlier system save. seems to be working again. Will keep on testing.
