Railworks America

I'm having a lot of trouble getting the P&LE route working. I can load it up and run a train for about 5 minutes then, "something bad happens" and it crashes to the desktop. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong so any help is appreciated. Here's my system specs if it helps at all:

Nvidia Geforce GTX560 Ti 2GB
Foxconn X38A mobo
4GB Corsair DDR3 1333MHZ
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHZ

Have you checked the route with RW_Tools to check for missing items (especially track items like turntables)?

It seems to me in the foggy recesses of my mind that I had trouble until I downloaded the SAD stuff, and I also remember that someone had to tell me where to find the stuff. Hope somebody jumps in here.

It seems strange to me that you are missing the default Kuju RailSimulatorUS diesel fuel stations.

Yes, that *should* replace any missing default RW/ Kuju stuff. You can get the SAD scenery from UKTS site. Not sure what the "HEF" buildings are, tho.

(I said *should* because at times you have to verify the files several times until you get no more errors)

I downloaded and installed the SAD assets and they're no longer showing up on the list. But even after verifying the cache 3 times, the diesel fuel stations are still showing up as missing.

I found that many times the assets are using the wrong patch. for example the the path says RAILSIMULATORUS but the asset is un der RALSIMULATOR. The first one on your list is a prime example the OXFO_PADDJUNCTIONBOX.BIN file will probably be in your RAILSIMULATOR folder.

I can only get this route running under a separate install with a couple of other US routes (SOO and CSX). None of these will run in my main install.

Yeah that could be the problem. I think I have about 20 routes installed right now. If only I knew how to open those .dmp files that RW creates when it crashes. That probably would tell me the answer. Anyone know a program that will open them?

Like you I am stuck with meaningless dmp files and useless error messages.

I have loads of routes and it seems as though some routes resent this although why I dont know as it only loads the stuff it needs, the same as my separate install.

I was getting SBHH either when trying to load anything, trying to load certain scenarios or when trying to edit. Varied by route. PLE is a wonderful route but somewhat particular and delicate for me. Took me weeks to get it to upgrade from RW114 to version 116. Had to rebuild an installation of RW from scratch.

Anyway 4 US routes seem to co-exisit on their own install (for now). Maybe you best option in the absence of a way to interpret the dump files. RW are no interested in helping as it is a 3rd party route.

How did you create a separate install for RW anyway? Can they both be on the same drive?

Ok here is what I do.

Rename your main railworks folder to something like Railworks Main
Then ask Steam to verify Railworks - wait
After Steam has verified and updated you will have a new Railworks folder (this is a completely vanilla install incl any DLC you have)
Install any route and assets to this new folder
NB You can point things like RW Tools to any of the Railworks installs you have
The first time you run this new Railworks (still called just Railworks) Steam will do its normal install of Net framework etc
Once you have run the new install first time ok you can then rename it something like Railworks US and rename your main install back to Railworks again
Then anytime you want to run your separate install rather than the main one just select the Railworks exe from within its folder.
Remember the separate install will not update automatically. To update you have to go through the folder renaming and ask to verify etc.

This method has allowed me to run 4 RW installs to get all these routes working. Only drawback in disk space and controlling what updates, new assets etc you have applied to what.
