Continuous Road Traffic

I have created a small project for the purpose of learning about route building. There is a stretch of road (with traffic) along side the rails for a length of four miles, at least. The issue I am having is that the traffic driving on the road is not continuous. The traffic breaks at the spots on the road that have the red triangles at the joint. I'll be driving along and suddenly the tractor-trailer beside me disappears.

Is there some procedure to link all four miles of the road so that traffic is continuous along the whole stretch?

*!!thnx!!* for your help on this.

I think you need to place it in continuous segments if you want the traffic to be continuous. You can always split and adjust the height of large segments later remember!

The traffic only goes to a break (the red triangles). You have to make it all one piece to go as far as you want, and then I beleive it is only 1,000 feet. Thats the way it is.

The trick is to hide the break points behind scenery to present the illusion of constant traffic where possible.

Put a toll station on the road at the break point :)

A trick that very few route builders seem to know about, much less use. Seeing road vehicles pop into and out of existence is not only unrealistic and visually disturbing, it just doesn't make sense. Please, route builders -- and especially the folks in charge of routes at DTG, pay more attention to this.

I think you all need to look at Marc's route. Maybe he's just sneaky but he seems to have overcome this issue.

Thank you for the wonderful suggestions. 1000 feet is all I can get in one stretch of traffic so I think I'll have to obscure the break points with trees, buildings, and the like.

No big secret, but I did learn something when Derek (DTG) posted about the new features added to TS2013 (or was it TS2014?), whereby you can remove triangles from a ribbon by holding the Ctrl key before using the Join Tool. Basic rules are as follows:

1) The ribbon must be laid in the same direction and be less than 1000m from the last triangle (2000m is max for traffic, but I have seen it go longer).
2) Any subsequent piece along the path (containing a red triangle/rectangle) should first be separated at the join before using the Ctrl key and Join Tool.

YMMV :D

You truly are from another planet. Great catch. I just love hauling a heavy load on that stretch where the highway is along side the tracks. I can watch all the excellent cars and trucks over there on the road.
