Disapearing Assets

Many of my assets are disappearing. Buildings, Trees, etc. When I place my mouse over their location (or where I remember them) they appear in the red or yellow color they had when I placed them. When I move the mouse away they disappear again. Is it a bug, virus, or what?
I confess I removed some of the European Scenarios, but when I refresh the program on Steam these assets still do the same thing.
Please help me !!!

Turn up your in-game detail sliders.

Thanks very much for your help with my disappearing assets Hack.
Now, I have a couple of more questions if you could help me. I might have altered these settings trying to get the assets to show up.
How should the ANTI-ALIASING be set, and what is it?
How should TEXTURE FILTERING be set?
Now for my major problem. My PAINTING TOOLS don't work right. I cannot adjust the size of an area on anything (elevation, textures, foliage, etc.). The size will only go to 5.00. Brush falloff and everything else remains at 0.00. I cannot increase any values to expand the areas I want to work with.
This has only been a problem for a couple of days.
Can you please help?

I'm using FXAA+1x2SSAA
Anisotropicx8

YMMV, depending on your graphics card and so on. Those settings have worked pretty well for me.

Best,

Thanks guys for your help. Everything is working.
I have a confession. The reason the Paint Tool did not work properly is that I had the Num Lock on. Dah..Dah...Dah.

Confession is good for the soul. It beats the heck out of repeatedly saying "I did it exactly like the directions and it doesn't work." Glad your problem got fixed.
!*YAAA*!
