Website videos issue.

For the past three or four days I've been unable to view any embedded videos on RWA using either Chrome or IE11. All I am getting is a vertical black bar about 7/8" X 4" on the left side of where the video in the post should be. When I right click on the black bars it shows these are Flash Player videos and that I have the latest update. Flash is enabled and working normally on all other websites in both Google Chrome and IE11. All the embeds in the RWA Videos forum were watchable with no problem prior to this.

Seems to me this has happened before and it was fixed, but I don't remember how or where the problem was.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Yea, I have that problem along with a sound problem after the last major windows update.

For now click on the bar in the middle of the window and download the video.

I solved the Creative Sound Blaster problem too if anyone has that.

It's affecting Edge, IE 11 and Chrome.
Firefox is okay.
I noticed this too after the Windows 10 anniversary update.

Yea, I just got the Windows 10 anniversary update two days ago and noticed that with Chrome. It also messed up my Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Fatality drivers. I found out how to get my sound back but I have yet to reboot to see if it sticks.

Looks like RealPlayer is defaulting for the video download, don't know what the hell is up with that.

I'm pretty sure it's Windows 10.
I can see the videos just fine in Android with chrome.
This is getting obnoxious with MS.
The sound issue is strictly Microbrains messing with drivers... again....

Another way to view this is that Adobe are not keeping there software up to date. You are to quick at pointing the finger. I always keep an open mind on issues.

Come on Trev, they shouldn't bust stuff this hard. Granted I bought my Creative Labs X-Fi Fatality sound card seven or eight years ago but how often do you need a sound card? It was working great with 10 until the major update.

And who defaulted the vids in the web browser to RealPlayer? I hate that format. I can change everything back I hope and I don't mean to sound like a bitch but HEY!. I'd check all my spy settings again too.

My Flash Player is actually working, test here for IE11 https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb ... 10-ie.html latest version is 22.0.0.209 but it is not working with these videos. I'm working with MS to work this out.

It's not even Flash that's broken. All my YouTube stuff runs in HTML 5. Something about the Win 10 anniversary update messed with the HTML 5 embedding here at RWA. I hardly ever let flash run anymore.

Note: I've been checking out other sites and this is what I have.
Over at MTBR.com which is a mountain bike site I use, Firefox is fine but IE11 and Edge don't want to play Flash content, just HTML 5.

Here it's YouTube vids on HTML 5 that seems to be broken.
It's not consistent between sites or codec, which explains some of the confusion.

The problem isn't consistent. HTML 5 is sometimes working here and sometimes not.

The only thing I'm sure of, is this started with the Windows 10 update.

Please note I'm running Win 8.1 and having this problem, not Win 10, but it's interesting 10 users are having the issue too. I did download a bunch of Windows Security Updates a few days ago. I think some of them were for both OS. Perhaps one of them is causing this Flash issue, but I can't remember if that was before or after I began seeing the problem. But it seems strange that, for me, it's limited to only RWA embedded videos. Flash is working normally everywhere else and on both the browsers I use.

Off-topic note: not long after installing those Windows Updates this usually lightning-fast computer slowed down to a crawl that nothing would cure. Finally called Dell and after 2 hours of troubleshooting figured out it was a BIOS problem. They updated to the latest version and all is well now. But Flash is still not working on RWA. Dell suggested the slowness issue may have been caused by one of the Updates in combination with the rather outdated BIOS version I was using, but they weren't sure.

NYWhiskey: Thanks for your suggestion on how to download the video, but that's not working for me. All I get is the files of the video, but nothing playable that I can see. Maybe I'm not doing it right or I'm misunderstanding.

Yes I use HTML5 to play YouTube videos and haven't run into any issues.. I have sent MS support the link to the video page of this site. Will see what they have got to say.

Looks like the issue has been resolved. Embedded videos are showing up again here normally.
