Koln To Koblenz Route - Need Help With Stuttering

Unread postby FHRob » Wed Jun 22, 2016 12:28 pm

I've been running some career scenarios on Koln To Koblenz.

There's consistent stuttering, even when there's no AI in the area. I presume this is from the overhead wires. !*don-know!*

If anybody has suggestions for optimal video settings when running this route, would be appreciated.

Computer Specs:

Core I3 Sandy Bridge

8 GB Ram

WD Velociraptor

EVGA GTX 750ti

Thanks,

Rob :D

Plus
How much VRAM on the video card and how big is the monitor and its resolution?
Settings in TS 2016 Dynamic Lighting Clouds etc, AA (SSAA, MSAA), AF, Shadows, water settings, etc?
Is TS on a HDD or SSD? How much free space on the drive that has TS2016 on it?

Hi Peter:

Here's the additional information:

VRAM = 2GB, 128 Bit GDDR5

Samsung S22C450D - LED monitor - 21.5" Resolution = 1920 x 1080 for TS

Driver Version = 10.18.13.6200 Not the latest, but I know it works.

TS Settings:

Dynamic Lighting Clouds etc, = Only headlight flares off, other three choices on.

AA (SSAA, MSAA): FXAA + 4 x MSAA

AF: AF x 8

Shadows are off

Water settings - about 10%

View Distance - about 75%

TS is on a 500 GB Velociraptor which has 215 GB free.

I also have a backup version of TS on a 240 GB Crucial MX200 SSD, which has 33 GB free.

Let me know if you need any other information.

Thanks,

You shouldn't be having any issues with that rig.
You are using Dynamic Lighting & Clouds they can be quite a resource hit have you tried the route with them turned off? (Not pretty but it might given an indication to see if that is causing the fps to stutter.)
You defrag the VR HDD regularly?

I have just run 3 scenarios on this route - 1 at night - 1 in daylight and 1 rainy and I did notice the RAM usage (steady) was around 5.8GB (on a rig with 16GB) -
cpu average usage on a quad core i5-4760 was 24% and peak usage was 60% - a couple of minor stutters at tile boundaries but the fps (set at 30 via steam) kept a steady 30 with just a couple of drops at these boundaries.

So I guess that if your RAM usage is similar to mine, then the stutter could be caused by the system using the Paging File. It would be interesting to see if another 8GB RAM would make any difference.
Other than that you should get reasonable results with your set up.
