Trouble On The Main for the route of Williamette Pass

Unread postby cnbalasub » Mon May 16, 2016 11:47 am

I have a question about this scenario called " Trouble On The Main for the freeware route of Williamette Pass. " I do know that is old and came out in 2011. Anyway I had no problem to download this route and the same with this scenario too. Also download the freeware UP Dash 9 and followed the instructions for two files that are required to run the UP Dash 9. When I am in the simulation with this scenario on the route of Williamette Pass and all I see is the player train with the couplers and nothing else show in the simulator. window. I see the first AI train go by with no problem showing all cars (UP locomotives and intermodal also trailer too). What's wrong with the player train on the siding? I was surprised to see that I can run this player train even with just the couplers. I think that is funny to see that. Anyway what do you think of this problem with the player train only show with the couplers. If you want to see screenshots and I will be happy to post them later.

John you need to copy over the Dash9-44CWGeoPcDx file from the Railworks/Assets/RSC/Dash9Pack01/Railvehicles/Diesel/Dash9/Default/Engine folder into the same named folder of the one you downloaded.

I knew someone here will say about this. I probably didn't do this file but yes with other files as instructions in readme.txt.

Thank you,

OK now I have followed Trev's message about one missing file and I did copy/paste the Dash9-44CWGeoPcDx file that I need in other engine folder that I have download them. Still the same with just the couplers and nothing else to show the whole train. I am not sure what is the problem with this?

Thank you again,

I gave up with this scenario because I am not going to tackle the whole problem of this scenario. It's funny to see the whole player show just the couplers nothing else beside with this player train but it can run on tracks. It's weird and that is why I gave up because I am not sure what else is the problem with this player train. Beside this player train you can see the AI trains go by with no problem at all and see the whole train with locomotives and rolling stock too.

Are you sure you satisfied all the requirements for this scenario?

required payware:

-RSC Dash 9 DLC from Steam
-RSC SD70 Volume 1 DLC from Steam
-RSC SD70 Volume 2 DLC from Steam
-RSC US Freightcarpack (included in the RSC SD40-2 Widenose DLC)

required freeware:

-Union Pacific/Southern Pacific repaints for the Dash 9 by Michael (bobbel66) Zimmer (Railworksamerica File Library:http://railworksamerica.com/cgi-bin/dl-cnt/download.pl?file=136)

-Repaints for the USFC Centerbeams from Digirails (http://s1.zetaboards.com/DigiRails_Forums/index/)

-G-TraX Doublestack Containercars (http://gtraxsims.com/)

If so, did you test each install of the above to make sure they worked before attempting the scenario? If not, maybe you want to give it another try. Don't give up. Half the fun is figuring out how things work. This stuff is rarely "plug and play".

Want to say thank you for your encouragement about trying to get the scenario working in my program of Train Simulator 2016. Yes I do have all of those payware locomotives and rolling stocks. Also did download the required freeware locomotives and doublestack and centrebeam cars too. Now may I ask you how do you check to test each install of the above to make sure they worked before attempting the scenario? All I did is to download them and unzip them to temporary folder on desktop and copy/paste the required files for locomotives and two other downloads to unzip and install them on temporary folder then copy/paste all the freeware stuff to the right folder in Assets. I don't know if that is the way it work or shouldn't be. Would appreciate to tell me what to do with this. Also I download the scenario file then use utilities to install RWP files of this scenario. I did that first before doing others like locomotives and rolling stock. Maybe I should do in another way like: first to download the locomotives and rolling stock first then unzip them to temporary folder and copy/paste them to right folder in Assets then install RWP file in utilities. Or really doesn't matter. I am nearly new with this program of Train Simulator 2016 after many years of Microsoft Train Simulator. Looking forward to see the answer about this as I am trying to get this scenario working every day and still the same with nothing right.

Thank you,

John

You have to take them (the freeware ones) one at a time. The DLC stuff sould be there already and they are easy to locate as they should be in the ../Assets/RSC folder.
Open each, READ the "read me file" for instructions....sometimes it c/p, others its rwp ... Don't assume...read.
then, create a scenario, any route - doesn't matter, select the right asset folders to add, then add that object. If all you get is couplers at this point, you didn't do something right. Go back and retrace your steps. I'll admit, sometimes asset authors don't always give you the "exact" instructions and you may have to "experiment", but most times the instructions are dead on.
Repeat this process for every freeware product until everything is right. Then go try the scenario.

I've run into that a few times myself, one package is .rwp, one is copy/paste, and another be self installer. I still have a few I'm trying to sort out.

Almost got this scenario working but one small problem is the cab of the leading locomotive for UP 9599 ( player train ). I am not sure what's wrong with this cab? Maybe I put the wrong file or something that is not belong to this locomotive cab. Is there an alternative for this cab so I can see through the front windows of the locomotive.

Here is the screenshot of this UP 9599 cab below:

UP 9599 is Dash 9 locomotive and is a part of Union Pacific/Southern Pacific repaints for the Dash 9 by Michael (bobbel66) Zimmer (Railworksamerica File Library:http://railworksamerica.com/cgi-bin/dl-cnt/download.pl?file=136). To me that cab look like 2 cabs in one locomotive. I believe that should be one with driver.bin but I am not sure which driver.bin is for this locomotive. All I know is that UP 9599 is the leading ( player train ) locomotive for this scenario.

Hope that will help you with this information.

Anyone here in this forum know what is the problem with this locomotive's cab? I wish that we have a program to check the files and cab files similar to ConBuilder in Microsoft Train Simulator. I had no idea how to fix this cab as you see the picture that I posted here above. Also what files do I have to look for to fix? I did googled Railworks Tutorials and came up empty on the Internet. Thank you
