"Blocked" tunnel portal on Marias Pass

Unread postby SlackAction » Sat Aug 15, 2015 3:06 pm

Good day,

I'm experiencing an anomaly on the third tunnel east of Belton whereby the western portal of the tunnel is obstructed by the terrain behind it. Curiously, the time of day in the sim appears to determine whether or not the portal displays correctly. When the sun is not not shining directly upon the portal (such as in the early morning), the portal appears as it should. However, when the sun is casting directly upon it, the entrance appears obstructed. Please see the attached screenshots, and note the sim time in each.

While this is admittedly not a game-breaking issue, I find it slightly irritating. Is anyone else experiencing anything similar?

I've experienced it, but I don't believe much can be done it. Matt Peddlesden said in a recent video that it's an unfortunate glitch in the game. *!sad!*

Well then, they need to get off the stick and fix it, because AFAIK it was never an issue before. *!rolleyes!*

It's been an issue for years.
I've got a tunnel in my Donner Redo that does that and I've tried removing the old tunnel decals first, there were five or six decals on top of each other, then placing a new one, but no joy.
Cajon Pass also has one tunnel entrance that does that, but intermittently.

I never saw that in Marias Pass when the route was new, but now I also find tunnels where the decal isn't working and they never fully fixed the lighting issues in the tunnels either.
Marias developed these problems almost two years ago when they updated the game engine. Then some guy in Europe developed a perfect fix, then the update to 2015 broke the fix...

Odd - I just checked the following times: 4 through 9 am and 4 through 8pm, and the tunnels on Tehachapi appear fine when the sun is shining directly onto the decals. I created my own tunnel decal blueprint, but I don't think I used anything different in the parameters than default.
Cheers!

Been away for a few days, just wanted to give my thanks to those that replied.

For what it's worth, my intent was not to castigate DTG as it certainly isn't the end of the proverbial world. If it is indeed caused by an issue with the engine itself, and not my hardware, I can live with it.
