Coupling Issue with Assembling the Load - Soldier Summit

I have the EMD-SD9 D&RGW engine, and one of the scenarios is called Assembling the load where you have to move around a series of box cars and hoppers to get to the correct coal cars and place them in the right order.

When doing this at various points there are a number of coupling issues such as when attaching to some cars, the couplings just pass through one another and then it derails. I am backing into the cars at about 1.5 mph.

Another time when trying to couple coal cars in the right order the cars connect but you can't couple them. Going about 1.5 mph it bangs together and the stationary cars will move back. Looking closer into the coupling, you can see that they are together but you cannot lock them.

I did try and contact Dovetail customer service and they told me to go through the verification process. I did that and still the problem persist.

Has anyone tired this scenario and if so, have you seen the same thing.

I have run this some time back and did not have that problem, however it was a while ago.

I had the same issue in a scenario once. I read somewhere later that you should try to save, exit, & restart from the save. Might be worth a shot, though if its a bug it should be investigated by DTG.

Haven't seen that issue for years. Think I just reloaded the scenario.

That may be, what might be called the second coupling issue. You place a car, uncouple to get another and when coupling the two they just ram each other because you already did a couple/uncouple on the first car. Only one "couple to" is allowed. However, if the car to be coupled to the second time has its coupler over a marker the coupling will succeed.

Have the engine place the car and uncouple. Manually place a marker so it is directly beneath the coupler of the car. Now another engine can couple to the car.

If you're describing the actions of a player engine, what you've written just does not make sense. In a standard or career scenario (and I think in any type of scenario) a player engine can pick up and drop off a car or rack of cars as many times as the scenario requires or, in a free roam scenario, as many times as the player wishes. However, it can happen that if a player uncouples from a rack of cars at the wrong car, recoupling may (or may not) cause a crash or what you describe as ramming each other. This occurs when the driver deviates from the written instructions, which is why it is always a good idea to save the scenario just before any coupling or uncoupling action; in case of an error, the player can then quit the scenario and restart it, hopefully without repeating the same error.
Your notion of recoupling over a marker does not make sense to me, but that may be because you haven't mentioned what type of scenario you have in mind. As for your last statement, about manually placing a marker, this of course cannot be done while a scenario is running, which is what your statement suggests.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but it is for the benefit of anyone searching the forums for asolution.
I had the mentioned coupling problem im this scenario.
Saving, exiting to Drive menu and resuming did not fix the problem.
Saving, quitting the game, starting the game and resuming DID fix the problem.
