Throwing In The Towel.

Well folks, it's been nice hanging around here, getting to know the admins, and sharing photos of my fictional. After a long year since my laptop died, and the purchase of my new machine causing MSTS to throw a fit (thus causing me to constantly run TS2014 & TS2015), I decided I'm going to pull the plug and uninstall TS2015 within the week, as it's a big drain on my hard drive. There are more reasons; chief among those being the cookie-cutter mentality of DTG, the lack of true support (much less worse than Microsoft, but that's another matter) for content, the lack of content compared to trainsim.com, and I'm just tired of the gamey setting of this Sim. I appreciated the hard-work from the few remaining 3rd Party creators (Hack, MadMike, Mike Rennie, to name a few) but after I learned of a potential route editor in development for Open Rails, I couldn't help but get drawn back to familiar territory. I learned a lot about the structure of TS2015, but it's time to move on. Thank you to all the hard working people here who'll keep pressing on.

I'm saddened that you are leaving.
So you're abandoning the Siskiyou Line?
Do you plan to hand it over to someone else?

The Siskiyou wasn't my project, mine is a fictional railroad spanning from the North Bay Region in Northern California to the deserts of Nevada.
I'm not leaving the forum just yet, as there could be a time to return; TS2015 had far superior world editors than MSTS, but my interests are with that old sim for now til Open Rails has it's own editors.

You are always welcome. Don't forget your motto. It's a little different from your first post.

Well, I'm not leaving the forum, but TS2015 has little promise for me at this time; especially when the control is with DTG and the gaming side of the sim, but not the community. There seems to be little outreach to the simmers, and a lot more pleasing the children than those who long to build and operate their own railroads. I'll reiterate though, that DTG is much better than MS. At least DTG didn't abandon their community.

Just out of curiosity, have you looked at the new help site? At the moment, I can't find the URL and evidently I forgot to bookmark it, but I'm sure that someone can provide it.

Interesting comments considering that the fabulous Soldiers Summit just came out and the physics of the equipment on that route is a huge leap forward on realism, but whatever........

Well there should be no doubt I love Railworks. But recently purchased Trainz The New Era and it is fun also. Basically it is just something different. But the first thing I do is fire up RW and work on the route, then I play around with other stuff. RW always gets the fresh reboot, nothing else is concerned how much free memory I have.
